Well..just got back from a fantastic meeting, sadly marred by a terrible accident afterwards A great win for us - we were all over the Wolves, who rode quite well, but sadly just not as good as our boys ! Bjerre and Buczkowski were just outstanding. But to be honest the team looked strong all night, and there was some great team riding. Huge crowd and great atmosphere. Stayed for the second half racing, along with some "practice laps" , during which sadly Karol Zabik and Kamil Brzozowski had a terrible collision. Kamil got up within 10 mins and apparently refused to go to hospital, but has burns to the back of his neck from Karols flying bike. Sadly Karol was down on track for a very long time and was taken to hospital. Lots of speculation trackside.....broken thigh, pelvic injuries..... So so sad....was horrible to witness, and am gutted for Karol. That sounds horrendous hope they're both ok.

PETERBOROUGH: ZABIK HURT SATURDAY MAY 15, 2010 UNLUCKY Karol Zabik faces a length spell in hospital – after breaking his lower thigh. The Readypower Panthers’ star is in Peterborough District Hospital after an horrific crash while practising at the East of England Showground on Friday night. He crashed with fellow Poland star Kamil Brzozowski – who escaped virtually unscathed after x-rays revealed no broken bones – on his first taste of Showground action of the season. The former World Under 21 Champion had been out of action since he suffered serious head injuries in a high-speed spill during the 2009 Polish Championship. He travelled across to Britain to stake his claim to a recall to the Readypower Panthers’ line-up but ended up in hospital. He has also suffered shoulder injuries and seems certain to be out for the rest of the season. Further information on the extent of the injuries and also which ward he is in at the PDA will be released later today. ( Panthers site)

PETERBOROUGH: PANTHERS 57 WOLVERHAMPTON 36 (EL)
SATURDAY MAY 15, 2010 KENNETH Bjerre rounded off the perfect week with a bottom of bubbly, a souvenir of his maiden Grand Prix win, an 18-point paid maximum and the East of England Showground track record!
Stand-in skipper Bjerre led Peterborough to their biggest Elite League win of the season as they demolished champions Wolverhampton 57-36.
The tiny Dane, standing in for injured captain Niels-Kristian Iversen was in unstoppable form in a week he will remember for the rest of his life.
Last Saturday he was crowned Swedish Grand Prix Champion as he leapfrogged to the top of the World Championship standings.
And he issued a warning to all his GP rivals that he will take some stopping with a faultless performance on his noisy return to his home track.
Before the meeting he was presented with champagne and a framed photo of his Gothenburg success.
By the end of the night he’d added his first unbeaten performance for more than a year and his name alongside the fastest ever four laps, clipping a tenth of a second off Darcy Ward’s time, lowering the record to 58.9 seconds.
Laughed Bjerre: “I suppose it wasn’t a bad night for me – but the big thing is that we got all three points.”
That was only in doubt for the opening two heats and after edging into a four-point lead with a Bjerre-Lewis Bridger maximum in Heat 3, the Readypower Panthers steamed on.
Wolves’ only respite came with a Heat 11 8-1, their only heat advantage all night.
There were other big performances from the home side: Krzysztof Buczkowski, still limping badly with a healing broken foot, celebrated his biggest-ever British score as well as the scalp of GP star Fredrik Lindgren; Lewis Bridger looked brighter than in previous meetings; and newly-signed number eight Craig Cook started off with a race win on his Alwalton debut and completed a successful first night with another three points.
Team boss Trevor Swales: “It was almost the perfect team display. We had 13 race winners and only three last places – you can’t get much better against the champions.
“Kenneth was unstoppable, totally unstoppable but he had magnificent support all down the order and that was definitely our best performance of the season.”
