From the BSPA..........(but I have corrected the spelling mistakes in the line-ups )
THE Poole Castle Cover Pirates are eager to get their season off to a winning start when they welcome Swindon Robins to Wimborne Road on Wednesday night (24th March, 7.30pm), in the first leg of a back to back challenge against the club that set the pace in last season's Elite league, the return in Wiltshire on Thursday.
Having had their practice session curtailed due to mid-afternoon rainfall on Monday the 2010 Pirates are still eager to get some serious racing on the newly laid track that underwent intense maintenance during the winter and would like nothing more than to get themselves off to a winning start.
Wednesday night will be the first team affair for visiting Swindon but rivalry between the two sides is always keen. The Robins will be led by former Pirate Leigh Adams, who has embarked on his final season of racing but like the Pirates have an overall youthful look about them.
Danes Morten Risager and Mads Korneliussen have both enjoyed succesful evenings at Wimborne Road whilst Jordan Frampton made a big name for himself when he visited his local track with Coventry last season.
Poole team manager Neil Middleditch is calling on the Poole fans to get behind the 2010 Pirates, admitting that "2009 was a year to forget and the club are determined to put that all behind us and I think that is obvious when you look at the team that Matt (Ford) has assembled.
It is a side that has great potential and I believe my biggest worry is keeping them all safe. These guys have such a hectic schedule but that can have its plusses too as helps to keep them 'in the zone'.
Wednesday's meeting sees tapes up at 7.45 with the riders parade around 7.30pm and gates opening at 6.30pm.
Teams from:
Poole - Chris Holder 8.76; Bjarne Pedersen 7.76; Davey Watt 6.94; Darcy Ward 4.56; Jason Doyle 4.38; Leon Madsen 4.00; Artur Mroczka 4.00 Team Manager Neil Middleditch
Swindon - Leigh Adams 10.00; Simon Stead 6.79; Mads Korneliussen 6.30; Morten Risager 5.26; Grzegorz Zengota 5.00; Jordan Frampton 3.90; Thomas H Jonasson 3.66 Team Manager Ronnie Russell
