Trick tracks, blue grooves, home advantage, single lines, tight bends, banking, technical tracks, rider friendly - at the end of the day aren't they all just ovals and the same for everyone?

I think that individual home and away averages go some way to answering that It's just 4 blokes going round in a circle and first out of the start wins is the stance of the uneducated unwashed

I think that individual home and away averages go some way to answering that But isn't that simplay a case of practise, with the home riders knowing where exactly to turn and how wide the tracks are? Also you can argue that a rider may be able to find the quickest line around any given track, but that doesn't legislate for other riders being in front or next to them, or on the same line. I guess I want to know is when a track is described as "technical" what do they mean by that?

You mentioned home advantage though and all that is is familarity and confidence, unless you're Sam Simota or Morton Risager or Daniel Davidsson. Technical to me just means throttle control? If you try to ride Rye House or Lakeside like Peterborough then it's hello Mr airfence (perhaps not at Hoddesdon where it's just hello Mr fence?). However, I've often heard Peterborough described as tricky with its own peculiarites (and that's not those on the 1st turn) so who knows? Any ex riders on the board

I guess I want to know is when a track is described as "technical" what do they mean by that? Peter Carr, Kenny McKinna and David Howe have all said Armadale is a technical track that required using throttle control and thought.

I think that sums it up nicely.........a 'technical track' is a track where a higher degree of skill is required.

So which ones are considered "easier" to ride?

So which ones are considered "easier" to ride? To generalize, the larger ones......i.e. Peterborough and Swindon
