Is this the meeting where he's calling time on his career?

Is this the meeting where he's calling time on his career? Yes, his riding career, I would think so TBH. Hopefully by having it early in the season, there should be a good line up, sadly I will have to miss it, as my son has a special birthday party that evening

I have amended the title to this thread, as it is actually Chris' farewell meeting.

Should be a good turn out both in terms of riders and fans for a rider I believe was the best British rider of his generation. His performance in a league meeting at Berrington Lough some years ago, when he scored a flawless maximum, was probably the best single performance by a rider witnessed on that track.

How is Chris Louis the best British rider of his generation, when he's of the same generation as Mark Loram?

He's a better rider than Mark Loram. Simple really. The luck just never went the way of Louis.

He's a better rider than Mark Loram. Simple really. The luck just never went the way of Louis. Louis wasn't half the rider that Loram was. Given a fairly technical track such as Oxford, and Louis was hopeless. He never mastered it. He normally came to Sandy Lane and was humiliated by our reserves - I remember one meeting where Lawrence Hare passed him three times from behind. On the other hand, Loram came and normally gave us a masterclass, I remember him scoring maximums at Oxford despite not gating once. Mark Loram was the last really good British rider - and was in a different class to Chris Louis.

I have neither the will or the heart to argue. That's a great shame old chap, hope it's not too long before you're back abusing me.

I have neither the will or the heart to argue. In other words, you know that I'm right. ;D

No fight left or so it seems; I am a man whose dreams have all deserted.
Sorry, young fellow.

Mark Loram was the last really good British rider - and was in a different class to Chris Louis. So based (as everything is with you it seems : on his riding at Oxford, you feel you can denigrate Chris Louis . As far as I'm aware Sube is as entitled to his opinion as you are, as for me, I wouldn't like to have to pick one over the other personally....Mark is Mr Nice Guy who has given 100% percent for every club he has ridden for, and been World Champ to boot. Chris has been an excellent servant to British Speedway in his 20 year riding career, and obviously has had his base at Foxhall, and let's not forget, he was a regular "Superguest" for the Peskies right up until his last injury, as not many riders could beat Chris round there, even in his late 30's.....so both have plus points over the other, but 2 great riders finishing their riding careers in 2010, and both due to serious injury, they neither owe us anything, just that they both have a happy retirement from riding speedway.
