Interesting quote from Greg Hancock on speedwaygp.com, where he talks about his reasons for not riding in Britian: “It’s more important for me to focus on Poland and Sweden and the World Championship. I’m riding against the best in the world and these leagues are the most professional. For me, that’s most important.”Full article at: speedwaygp.com/en/newsdetail/a945

Frigbo, maybe, but at least it's not virtually every club over here. The Russian League went tits up and the Polish League will be the next to go. Soon the riders will be all wanting to return to the supposedly "Unprofessional" British Leagues, the home of speedway.

Or why Wolbert was assessed a 7 pointer? Because that's the sort of thing he means, I guess - too many inconsistencies in the British rules. At least you know where you are with the Poles and Swedes, even if the Poles are too heavy-handed.

Schumi, there's always going to be inconsistencies within British Speedway, because it is governed by averages. But that's not to say that a league built on false promises is better than ours. At some point, Polish Speedway will go arse over tit. You can't keep on spending more money than is coming in - that always catches up with you eventually.

Well at least someone wants to ride here. Snippet from speedwaygp.com/en/newsdetail/a962?SID=9c5c699b99de2cc6ea4a2f85b964860d[Kenneth] Bjerre is confident his decision to choose in Britain over Sweden will ensure he has enough meetings to keep him on top form for the Grand Prix series, even if it has a negative effect on his income.
He said: “The worst thing is that I am going to lose money. But I’m not racing to make money – I’m racing to become world champion.
“If I didn’t race in Britain, I wouldn’t have had enough meetings at the start of the season. So that’s why I picked it.”

The whole sport is unprofessional bar the odd riders who organises themself accordingly.
From the rather money-led way the GP's are led to the tinpot system of promoting in the UK. The three top leagues all have clubs owing or losing money sadly.
