the moment anyone said anything against him, they were out of the door. I'd have walked myself. I wouldn't tolerate that sort of thing as an unpaid helper. In fact, his whole PR 'strategy' made me rather disinterested from the beginning, and I was largely another one of those fans who "didn't support the team" this season.

cracking thread just what "weird" is all about........
My thoughts for what it's worth is a mix of what has already been said.... the very sad demise of Oxford... has only fuelled the hatred of Horton because of his his obvious lies.. which in turn has caused the speculation about the demise of Peterborough........ ( their fans are frightened they are going to lose their club too............. you can hardly blame them......and post, in defence of Mr Horton, hoping to keep him on side) The fact that the BSPA are keeping him sweet, just so he will see the season out..............
what a shambles

Wibblemuis, I'd be interested to know what your last post on that thread was - I didn't have time to read it before it was deleted.
Also wondered if anyone was able to answer my question: If the Oxford assets all reverted back to the BSPA, does that include the equipment?

To be honest, I can't exactly remember what my last post was, but I think we were discussing whether the current promotion would continue to run Peterborough. Also wondered if anyone was able to answer my question: If the Oxford assets all reverted back to the BSPA, does that include the equipment? More recent rulebooks don't cover this, but looking back at a couple of older ones, it would seem only rider assets reverted to the BSPA in the past. I'd guess this probably hasn't changed, and the other assets remain the property of the original promoter or any liquidator. Despite what several barrack room lawyers were posting, the BSPA is not an official receiver. It's simply the rules of being in the association that you relinquish your rider assets if you fail to complete your obligations towards the association - namely fulfilling your agreed fixtures. No doubt the non-rider assets would become the property of a receiver if the promoting company went bankrupt, but we're constantly told Oxford did not go bust, but was merely closed.

So if thats the case, that would expalin his attendance yesterday to collect "what's his" if you like ,as from the legal perspective those items are his..........it's the moral issue though isn't it?

I could to some extent understand him wanting to recover higher value assets such as the track equipment (although I believe the grader belongs to the Supporters' Club), but to take the starting gate is obviously spiteful. Such things have no value outside of speedway, and indeed I think the starting gate was actually made by a volunteer official.

Personally I think I owe Colin a huge thank you. If it hadn't been for him (and a friendly(?) mod at the BSF) we probably wouldn't have had so many people made aware of our site. ;D

I see the Peterborough promotion are setting themselves up for a withdrawal by questioning whether 'people around here want the very best riders and top speedway'. Perhaps if they'd advertised it more than a week in advance, people might actually have known to come. There were also a few other lame excuses about a match report not forthcoming because their 'press officer was on holiday', and the intermittently vanishing website being attributable to 'the process of changing hosts and the new look web site soon to be launched'. Hmmm....

I think most people looking at Peterborough with an unbiased view can take an educated guess as to exactly which way this going to go. The groundwork is being laid for an exit with as little blame as possible being apportioned to the promotion. The honey moon is over, last season's glories seem an age away and are unlikely to be repeated this year. It's no fun anymore. It's time to get out.

This is getting a tad worrying now . Up until now i couldn't have given a flying fuck about the Elite League and watched with amusement as it continued to self-destruct . What i dont want happening , however , is the Premier League being torn to pieces with all these arseholes now wishing to drop down . The one league set-up destroyed a couple of lower division clubs the last time and almost finished some others . The Premier League , the majority of the time , is a lot of fun - i dont want that to change . You just have to look at the pages on the BSF . The good natured banter ( most of the time ) in the PL section compared to the out and out nastiness of the EL section . Hopefully SKY will have an input that saves the EL in some shape or form , but dont let EL promoters run roughshod over the PL and destroy speedway in this country altogether .

What i dont want happening , however , is the Premier League being torn to pieces with all these arseholes now wishing to drop down. The Premier League could accommodate several more sides without problems - up to five more at least. In fact, with a 18-20 team league, you wouldn't need the somewhat tedious BPL Trophy as well. The one league set-up destroyed a couple of lower division clubs the last time and almost finished some others. I can't see one big league flying again, although a two-league set-up might be a proposition if the BEL was closer to the BPL in costs. In reality though, whatever solution is chosen, the leagues cannot operate without reference to each other, and certainly not in competition to each other. The BPL also needs a higher league if it's to maintain its position as an affordable tier of competition. The good natured banter ( most of the time ) in the PL section compared to the out and out nastiness of the EL section. I wouldn't tar all BEL fans with the BSF brush. After all, there are actually only 12 posters with multiple personalities that they use to argue with each other.

I see that Mick Bratley is now calling for helpers for an exciting "Supporters' Club project". Do you think it could be called "picking-up the pieces when we scarper"?

Interestingly, Aaron Lanney only came to the fore at Oxford during the countdown to Horton pulling out and now Bratley is firmly to the fore at Peterborough.
