The BSPA website has issued the following statement regarding Peterborough:
British speedway bosses have held positive talks with Peterborough about the future of the club. Owner Colin Horton and co-promoter Mick Bratley met the sport's management committee to discuss the rest of the season for the Panthers. British Speedway Promoters' Association chairman Peter Toogood said: "I'm pleased to say we had a very positive and constructive meeting with Peterborough where we discussed a number of issues.
The meeting seems to have resulted from Horton's sudden closure of Oxford and mounting speculation regarding his continued participation at Peterborough. I doubt that this is the end of the matter. I understand that the BSPA threatened consequences after the closure of Oxford and these sanctions haven't materialised yet. But the future of Peterborough may give Horton a bargaining chip. It's clear from the rescue of Reading (surely masterminded by the Orange dictator) that the BSPA is not prepared to lose another Elite League track this season.

Ever get the impression we (the fans) are being humoured? I'm inclined to take this as a "we have no news" comment.

Call me cynical, but if Horton was happy to stand in front of a room full of fans and convince them all was well, then pull the plug a couple of days later, who's to say he can't do the same to the BSPA?

I believe it's called the "mushroom" syndrome - kept in the dark and fed shit.

I believe the BSPA are keeping Horton sweet at the moment, to prevent having another EL team withdraw mid-season, but will then kick him out on his arse when the season reaches its conclusion.
All the best Rob

All the best Rob Which is probably what Horton is hoping will happen. Then he can blame the BSPA for pushing him out of the sport and threatening Peterborough's future. He'll remain a hero to the likes of Finchy at Peterborough, who'll see the BSPA as a bunch of flapperjacks.

Well it seems that just as an interesting thread was developing about Horton on the BSF, the moderators have gone and deleted it. Whilst some of the comments were a bit OTT, equally the delusion and sycophany of some of the Peterborough supporters was quite sickening as well. It seems as long as your promoter wins you a league title, you should give them your unequivocal love.
One only needs to look-up the official accounts (or lack of) of various companies owned by Horton to wonder about the long-term future of his involvement in speedway.

I'd have to agree with you. And I agree that the Peterborough supporters are actually managing to be more sycophantic than even Chris Brown at his worst. And you suspect it'll all end in tears.

I suspect it's just a minority of Peterborough fans that are giving their unquestioning support to Horton. I'd say there are some very worried speedway supporters in that town. But it's always dangerous when people don't question.

Lets hope so ,the way the boro fans have acted i hope boro go under as well they deserve all they get . I can, to a certain extent, understand the stance of the Peterborough fans. It's very difficult for them. Up to only a few weeks ago, I was often defending the indefensible. Good luck to the Peterborough fans. I have a feeling they're going to need it. All the best Rob

The Panthers fans are terrified that if they dare speak out against him, he'll pull the plug on them and close down their speedway. Sure there are some who believe everything he tells them, but the majority I'm sure are just frightened to step out of line.

I wanted to stay involved, and the moment anyone said anything against him, they were out of the door. Blimey, I doing it again. Posting on flaming Horton. He's the past - he's gone. And good riddance. That's it. No more posts on Horton from me. Not one. All the best Rob
