The Mutt's Nuts threads won't start up again properly until mid-March.
But in the meantime, this thread is somewhere where you can give recognition where it is deserved by nominating your Mutt's Nuts.
No winner - just a chance to highlight those whose good deeds deserve a mention.

I'd like to nominate a lady I saw on the news tonight. She is the widow of Olaf Schmid, who was an army Bomb Disposal officer. He managed to defuse 64 bombs and saved countless lives. The 65 was not defused.
She stood in Wootton Bassett, saying how very proud she was of him, how glad she was he had come home. She brought a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat. This, I thought, is the true backbone of Britain, what makes Britain Great. The families who will allow their relatives the freedom to make the world a better place.
Regardless of how I feel about the war we are currently waging in far off places, this woman - and others like her - made me feel very humble indeed.

There was an article in the local paper today...what strength of character. Humbling is the word that springs to mind.

There was an interview yesterday on BBC Breakfast with a widow of a soldier (didn't catch the name) and I was struck by her attitude that she knew what she was getting into when she married a soldier but it was the children who suffer the most. In her words "they are the innocent victims". So very very true and my heart goes out to them.

Plaudits to the OU, who listened to my complaint about my tutor and allocated me a new one within 4 hours. Now that's what I call customer service

Aye, I've done a similar thing. Always do shopping online... especially if you can find a helpful discount code for the website.

I'm full of admiration for all the volunteers and professionals who did such a wonderful job in Cumbria over the last 24 hours or so. It's wonderful to know that when disaster hits there are such selfless people around who just get stuck in and get the job done.
My heart goes out to the family of PC Barker who lost his life trying to save others. Many harsh words are uttered about the police thro the year but when push comes to shove it's those same men and women that put their own lives on the line to protect us.
RIP

Whilst the loss of Emil Kramer is tragic, I would like to nominate the promotion of Somerset who in my estimation have really captured all speedway fans feelings with the future events to celebrate Emil's life and times as a speedway rider in this country, lovely memorials, well done Somerset Rebels management:
The management at Somerset still can not believe the tragic news received in the early hours of Thursday morning, and not ashamed to admit that we have all shed a few tears this week for Emil, his family and daughter Nelly.
Our thoughts are also with Phil, Stuart, & Michael Pickering, his English surrogate family.
Speedway riders can be replaced, but the qualities that Emil had as a person will never be replaced.
I know we are all overwhelmed by the glowing tributes that are still pouring in for Emil.
It is obvious you our Somerset speedway family all want to express your love and feelings for Emil in some way.
A book of condolences is now open at the club for fans to pay their tributes, this will be passed to Emil’s family, so they can appreciate the high esteem Emil was held in by us all, we hope that this may be some comfort to them in these tragic circumstances at some time in the future.
We have sent a letter from the club to Emil’s family expressing our sympathy to them , and that it was an honour to have been able to have shared Emil with them, and that all our lives are the richer for knowing him.
Already floral tributes are being placed on the track to Emil.
There have been numerous suggestions on forums with reference to fitting memorials to Emil, we therefore have discussed this issue this morning and decided upon the following items which we hope you all feel will be appropriate.
We are planning to hold a church memorial service to Emil next spring in Somerset.
This will enable fans, riders and friends to pay their last respects, we have decided to wait until foreign riders are back in the UK as they have stated they want to attend.
Next season Somerset Rebels will have a change of suit / bike cover colours, instead of our normal blue and red design , they will be blue and yellow, Emil’s native Swedish colours, with a tribute to Emil on the back collar of the suits.
We have plans to build in the near future a covered seated stand, for which we have to apply for full planning permission , designs are already being drawn by an architect, when constructed this stand will be dedicated to Emil and will be called the Emil Kramer Stand.
It would fitting if we could get Fosters lager to sponsor part of the stand, as I feel sure Emil would see the funny side of this gesture.
Lastly you the fans voted Emil your Rider of The Year, which he was so proud to have been awarded. This trophy is still at present on display in the clubhouse, we were going to box it up for Emil to take back to Sweden to display ,but he wanted it left at Somerset as this was his second home, The trophy was commissioned , and produced by Dartington Glass and engraved by a member of the master guild of glass engravers, so it is unique, it was a perpetual trophy to be awarded each year, but the management want this trophy to go to Emil’s family. We will commission a replica for future presentations, the present rider image on the front of trophy will be changed to an image of Emil.
This management will ensure that Emil will never be forgotten at Somerset Speedway for the wonderful memories he has left us all.
