THE Scotwaste Monarchs have signed their first ever Hungarian rider, 20 year old Jozsef Tabaka, who was reserve for last year’s World Under-21 Championship.
He is not a fluent English speaker yet, but he did say to Monarchs’ promoter John Campbell “Thanks for the chance! I'm happy that we will work together and I would like it that the team be successful.”
He scored 3 points from the 2 rides he had in the World Under-21 Final, defeating Simon Gustafsson and Ludvig Lindgren. He has never ridden in the UK but is Hungarian Under-21 champion and is looked on as the leading youngster in a country whose representatives have been getting a bit long in the tooth.
In Poland he rides for the Hungarian representatives Miskolc in League 2. He was top scorer in Hungary’s World Team Cup qualifying bid, and had a good run in the European Championship, reaching the final and finishing down the field in that, though level with Macs Gregoric and Mads Korneliussen.
His Continental results are pretty impressive though as with all overseas riders, his success will depend on the transition to UK tracks. We welcome him and wish him well.
This means we are not going to be seeing the highly popular Michal Rajkowski in the side next season. Michal now knows this and has said he hopes he will ride for us again one day.
The team will be completed if the anticipated return of Max Dilger is confirmed.Courtesy of www.british-speedway.co.uk

Potentially a useful signing, although one wonders if he'll last - Magosi soon vanished from the cruel, crazy town. He could well turn invisible during the season, along with Wolbert and the hopeless Dilger (who'll probably be asked to be "ill" a few times).

Talk about a dog with a bone Sube, was it ok for Tully, Lawson and other Brits to miss PL meetings to take part in approved events like the U-21's? Is it ok for Fisher to represent his country too please?
What logic do you apply to deduce that because Magosi left the Bandits that Tabaka won't last at the Monarchs - simply that they have the same nationality? But you don't apply the same logic to the abilities of Wolbert and Dilger despite them both being German?
I saw enough of Dilger in most of his Monarchs meetings home and away to see that he can be a decent rider from the reserve position with Monarchs.
Give us some credit for trying to sign the Scottish Lawson before he elected to go elsewhere!
Oh and by the way - it was Wolbert that was ill - Dilger was injured!!

Tabaka appears to be THJ's replacement for the points-limit-busting Monarchs - a rider who will score well around the away tracks and go missing, when required, for the home meetings.

Yawn.....until Rob's rules are adopted by Speedway the 2010 Monarchs team is legal ( unless we bring on Screeny at reserve just to annoy the Tigers ) under present BSPA rules. The BSPA members (who are not all Monarchs) elect the BSPA committee (who are not all Monarchs) so every team has the chance to have one of their promoters on the top table. Have you spoken to Tabaka to confirm that he will "go missing" ? or is the above just the usual ignorant statement of myth, not fact? All the best Outraged of Armadale

Last time I checked 105/48*4 = 8.75 and not 7.00 as it appears to on the Harkess calculator. All the best Outraged Of Oxford

Again, I must point out that we are not following OoO's rules in 2010 - though never say never, the BSPA may resign en nasse and ask you to run speedway - if they do - I look forward to seeing the Monarchs in the NL lol

I'm sure my good pal Paulco would come along a few times to watch you lose 21-68

Dear OoO, a fellow cynic has suggested I mention how Oxford cheated a EL win in 2002 by the use of sick notes?, specifically for Dryel - how do you plead? Two possible answers - GUILTY or NOT GUILTY - none of your usual perambulations!!!! If you need help - ask sube - he will supply an anti Monarchs jibe btw - seasons greetings chaps!

OoA, not guilty since Oxford finished sixth in the 2002 Elite League. And remember the double jeopardy law, so you can't change the year. ;D Merry Christmas to you too.

Looks like Wolbert has applied for Polish citizenship: I am now hearing this has been shelved by Kevin. And apparently it's back on, according to sportowefakty. The same website are also reporting that Kevin was involved in a car accident, but thankfully ended up with no serious injuries. He is, however, suffering from headaches, a sore neck and dizziness, but says when he looks at the state of the car he's relieved it wasn't worse.

With 3- 4 inches of snow still on the track it's been announced there will be no track work started until March 10th.
The P&P is March 12th and the opening night the 19th so god knows what Doc and his track staff are going to have to pull out of the hat to get ready in time. I hate to think what damage lies underneath that snow.
