Yep, you should be locked into a darkened room and made to watch highlights of King's Lynn's 1985 to 1990 seasons, until you relent and confess your sins. What a harsh and cruel punishment Genghis.... Ladyrobin, I know and if you don't behave, you'll go into another darkened room to watch Swindon's comedy "will we be relegated, no we won't, oh yes we have" back-to-back wooden spoons of 1991 & 1992. ;D ;D

I nominate everyone who was involved in the fighting tonight at Arlington, that includes David Norris, Grandad Bridger, Bridger's Mechanic, Troy Batchelor and James Brundle. It was appalling.

Don't know exactly why it happened but the BSF has already given some reasons. One fits in with what Lewis said at the end of the meeting. He said Troy had been making gestures all night, when he (Lewis) was around. BSF says that when Troy returned to the pits LBR pit crew pointed to Lewis's name on their shirts, and Lewis said that someone had wound Troy up after that heat. But if that is why a group of 'men' starting acting like animals, then they are all very pathetic. It was a very violent fight, people be punched, thrown to the ground and kicked. Horrible end to season but fights seems to be a thing with Eastbourne And of course the fans wanted to get involved and so Troy had to escorted out of the stadium, and straight into his van without getting changed.

Batchelor has about a twentieth of the talent he thinks he has, while Bridger has a bit of talent, but sadly a brain the size of a grain of sand. That's why he got fucked over by his Polish club. They saw him as the sort of quarterwit who'd dump on his British team at the drop of a hat when they needed him. And they were right. As soon as they didn't need him, he was treated like a bad smell.

Mimi, I think the odd fight here and there does no harm. I think it's one thing that is missing these days. It creates a bit of atmosphere. Apparently back in the day, if two riders were having a go at each other in the pits at Oxford, there were told to stop fighting in the pits and do it on the centre green instead. I remember one all-in fight from an Oxford v Poole match in 1984, with after an incident between Hans Nielsen & Sam Ermolenko, which ended with Ermolenko's mechanic being ejected from the stadium. It ignited the crowd and there were a great atmosphere for the rest of the meeting. EDIT: I understand how you probably get fed up standing close to the Eastbourne "boo-boys" at Arlington though. I couldn't believe it at the pairs, when they booed every away pair apart from Belle Vue (who must have been too crap for them to bother to boo).

I think the odd "handbags" fight is good for the fans and atmosphere, but last night wasn't. It was vicious, and resulted in injuries. At one point I saw someone be thrown to the ground and then be kicked whilst down. That sort of fight doesn't do anything for the sport.

Mimi, you're right - it is different if people actually get hurt. Of course, it was at Eastbourne, Martin Dugard infamously laid out his own former house-mate in front of the Sky TV cameras.

A few fisticuffs and gestures to the ref can add a lot to a meeting, especially one devoid of much track action. Having said that however, it seems that speedway is reflecting life in general nowadays and fights are not what they were Back in the "good old days" guys (and a few gals) would have a bit of a dust up and then all troop off to the bar and buy each other a beer or 6, nowadays it tends to become total war as soon as one guy says something that another doesn't like. I've long felt that the authorities have cleaned speedway up a bit too much and a lot of the "incidents" that older fans witnessed have stayed in the mind far longer than the racing from particular meetings. So maybe the racing wasn't much better than it is nowadays but the "add on" entertainment was an integral part of a meeting Ask any Lynn fan if they remember Buster climbing up to the ref's box and cleaning the windows following a contraversial decision and they'll say "of course", then ask who Lynn were riding against and I'd bet a good 80% couldn't tell you (that includes me ;D) It did no harm, amused the crowd and added to the meetings entertainment value. If he or anyone else did it now they'd be fined, if not banned.

I know that as i was not there is shouldn't really comment, but i can't stop laughing at the thought of Bridger, his grandad, Batchelor and the Flopster being involved in a brawl. It's almost as amusing as Woffinden marching into the west ham pits to confront Richardson, and Sajfutdinov squaring up to...well everyone. Hilarious.

The handbags between Nicholls and Sayfutdinov were hilarious. ;D
Shame Ashley Holloway then went and took things too far - but I guess that's Star Lady's point.

Just to make it clear Bridger was on track at the time so wasn't in the fight, he was just a Flapperjack afterwards.
