Another race this weekend, and an early start for Suzuka - 6am. Button gained a point on team-mate Barrichello at Singapore, and now has a 15 point lead for the championship, with three races to go. If he gets 5 points more than the Brazilian at Suzuka he'll wrap up the title, but has promised he won't be taking any unusual risks, and will drive like he normally does.
But perhaps the most interesting ongoing battle is between Ferrari and McLaren. Raikkonen leads Hamilton in the drivers' standings by three points - the same margin that Ferrari lead McLaren by in the constructors' championship. So who will win the battle for supremacy, and more to the point, who gets gloating rights this year? Forza Ferrari!

I don't care who does best between the mediocre Ferrari team and mediocre McLaren team. I'm only interested in the mighty Button and the mighty Brawn winning their respective titles. 6am? 'Tis a bit early. And isn't Suzuka where Schumacher's engine blew up in 2006? ;D

A crash-packed bag of red-flag inaction, as Timo Glock was taken to hospital with an abrasion to his leg, and the Toro Rossos and Kovalainen struggled to get their cars round degna 1.
Vettel qualified on pole, with Trulli and Hamilton behind him. Jenson Button could only manage 7th place, and Barrichello starts in 5th.

Barrichello and Button both demoted 5 places for not slowing for the yellow flag.

Barrichello and Button both demoted 5 places for not slowing for the yellow flag. Several other drivers as well. Looks like the marshals are getting a bit heavy-handed again. And what is Massa harping on about? I thought he took defeat very sportingly at the end of the last season and I respected him for that, and it's a shame he's now tarnishing that.

Under the circumstances, that's a fair opinion. Could have been worse though - had the stewards enforced the rules we could have had six or seven drivers with their times disqualified. With that being the only flying lap they'd completed I don't know how they would have worked out the placings in that scenario.

One piece of crap on the track and only the two Brawn drivers out there i thought the yellow flag was unnecessary

Totally dominant drive by Vettel, who must be cursing the unreliability of the Red Bull this year.
The Brawn cars finish seventh and eighth. Button's one point is likely to be doubled to two, after Rosberg failed to slow down in safety car conditions.
The mighty Button needs six points from the last two races - five if he gets the extra point.

And rather shockingly, Rosberg escapes penalty, despite going too fast under the safety car. Given the way the stewards were dishing out penalties like sweets in qualifying for a similar offence, it's yet another sign of very inconsistent decision making in F1.
