I've just checked out the Evening Telegraph website and there is nothing on the about speedway tomorrow. I've just phoned down to a colleague at work who has the paper version and he says that there is nothing in there either. If we do want to attract more supporters and gauge interest for such meetings then you would have thought that at least the Evening Telegraph would have had something in 24 hours before takes up? Some people might be spurred on to book time off or make travel arrangements etc but they're not going to do that if they're not made more aware of the meeting. There was plenty in the local paper about our never ending chase for play-off elimination so perhaps we really needed to sell this one a little bit given the long break since our last meeting

The city side take to their Showground track for the first time in six-and-a-half weeks when hosting Coventry in a Midland League clash (7.30pm). Panthers fell short in their pursuit of the Elite League play-offs this season and have high hopes of winning this end-of-season competition which also features Wolverhampton. Panthers began with victory at Coventry and team boss Swales insists it is vital they follow-up on home shale. Swales said: "We had a really good start in the competition when winning and now we need to build on that. Winning the Midland League would certainly be a good way to end what has been a hard year. "Everyone is seriously disappointed to have missed out on the play-offs, but that is now in the past and we need to concentrate on looking forward. That means doing everything we can to finish on a high before planning for 2010." Star-of-the-season Kenneth Hansen returns after more than a month out with concussion and whiplash while new October averages mean Ales Dryml goes back into the main body of the team with Claus Vissing moving in the opposite direction to reserve. Youngster Ricky Wells is expected to be fit for Coventry after missing their play-off exit on Monday with a back injury. The Bees have also lost twice to Wolverhampton in this competition. Teams: Panthers: 1 Niels Kristian Iversen, 2 Ales Dryml, 3 Kenneth Hansen, 4 Kenneth Bjerre, 5 Mads Korneliussen, 6 Claus Vissing, 7 Henning Bager. Coventry: 1 Chris Harris, 2 Ben Barker, 3 Olly Allen, 4 Edward Kennett, 5 Rory Schlein, 6 Ricky Wells, 7 Jordan Frampton. Last Updated: 01 October 2009 10:33 AM Source: Peterborough ET

Schlein off to hospital (after heat 9 crash) (twisted knee....? ) Edit...conflicting reports coming in..... Just to confirm, Craig said that a lump of shale hit him on the knee, that's Schlein of course and not the roving bloke. Apart from that, we've been unable to perfect a decent rider presentation in all of those weeks since the last meeting and the ending was more shambolic than usual, but inbetween there was some decent action with Harris (who is making more decent starts these days), Iversen and Vissing being the pick, ended with a cracking heat 15.

THE end is most definitely nigh. Arriving at Alwalton in darkness is a sure sign that winter is on the way. The action served up by tired riders in the twilight of the season merely confirmed it.
There was little to get excited about (the performance of Claus Vissing and a couple of splendid races involving Coventry star Chris Harris aside) as Panthers swept past the Bees in their first Showground outing for six-and-a-half weeks to continue their flawless start to life in the Midland League.
Only a freak injury to visiting rider Rory Schlein - who was struck on the knee by a piece of shale with such force during heat nine that it caused a dislocation – interrupted the low-key flow.
The Aussie, who unfortunately attracts serious injuries as frequently as Jordan catches the attention of the paparazzi, had to be helped from his machine and taken to hospital.
Panthers had opened up a 12-point lead courtesy of back-to-back heat maximums immediately before Schlein's painful farewell. His departure ensured there was no threat of a fightback from the Bees as the hosts enjoyed one of their most comfortable evenings of the season.
And for reserve Vissing, it was one of the best. The Dane has spent the past two years impressing and frustrating in equal measure while bouncing between the main body and bottom of the Panthers order.
He is back in the latter location now and made hay with 12+1 points – a feat bettered only by his GP-racing team-mate Kenneth Bjerre and the spectacular Harris.
'Bomber' Harris delivered the most entertainment of any rider, a point he emphasised by slicing between Panthers pair Bjerre and skipper Niels Kristian Iversen as things warmed up in the finale.
But his Coventry side are clear whipping boys of this competition after slumping to four defeats whereas Panthers still have the chance to end a disappointing season on a high by winning this autumn calendar filler.
Wolverhampton have also dispatched the Bees twice and the two meetings between the city side and the Monmore men will now determine who lifts the crown.
Wolves are probably far more concerned about triumphing in the Elite League grand final right now, although they do visit Alwalton next Thursday for a meeting that falls slap bang in the middle of the two legs that make up the seasonal showcase.
