Semi Finals
22.09.09..Vargarna v Vetlanda 22.09.09..Indianerna v Lejonen
23.09.09..Vetlanda v Vargarna 23.09.09..Lejonen v Indianerna
So we have a repeat of last year's quarter final meeting with the Lions and the Indians, in which Lejonen won through. And we're back to riding on Tuesday and Wednesday now, so we don't have to wait a fortnight to see who makes it through to the final. Come on Lejonen!

I wonder if we could be in for a surprise finalist here? With R/R for Crump this week, and Richardson taking a tumble in his first heat, it's not going Vetlanda's way.

A good performance from young Leon Madsen, scoring a 15 point maximum for Indianerna.

ii really hope Vetlanda can turn this around because it would be a shame if injuries would decide which team will advance from that semi final.

A slight rain delay whilst work is done on the track at Lejonen.
And in the other meeting, a great start for Vargarna to take an early lead, but not so good for Vetlanda. The man who put them through to this round, Thomas H Jonasson, not scoring a point so far.

The meeting is still running, but Vargarna have done enough to secure their spot in the final - a fantastic year for them, having only last season been in the Allsvenskan. Just goes to show you don't have to have all the GP riders, and you can field an affordable team and still be a winner.

@erik, well i dont agree really. Sure Vargarna have done a good season with several good victories at home. But they also have had some fluke with things going their way. Like Smederna folding meaning the other teams get fewer points and Vargarna getting Kasper and King. The away meeting against Dackarna where Dackarna got AJ and Zengota injured in the first heat and vargarna only got King (reserve) injured. The home meeting against Piraterna where Piraterna's Jagus got injured in his first heat and now in the semifinals their opponents Vetlanda getting injures on their the best rider, who also happens to be the best rider in the world, the night before the first semifinal and getting another of their good riders injured as well before the second semi final. Their QF opponents were unable to have the strongest team in the first QF. I dont know you see it but i cant really see how these things can be considered to be the result of a good performance from Vargarna? Especially not the semifinal. Take away two of the four best riders from any team and that team will struggle. With Crump and Vaculik in the team i am pretty sure vargarna would not have made it to the final. Add to that a replacement who only score 2 points on both meetings together. Meaning Vetlanda only had a 4 men team and @schumi well one of the biggest factors for Vargarnas success is their hometrack. Its very advantageous and many riders have struggled with it. Someone at the BSF said that it was very much like scoborough (?) park in terms of size and shape and etc... So even if their riders ride well at home the team isnt THAT strong and the track, as i said, plays a big part if the successs. nothing wrong with that but just the way it is. But after they got Kasper theya lso started to perform on away meetings which have been crucial in the finals. Its kinda like last season when Lejonen also had a very huge advantage with their long track that not many riders had been at before and they managed to win it all despite having a quite "anonymous team" except Nicki of course so to summarize it all Vargarna have done a good but they have also had allot of fluke during the season.
