Now that the League fixtures have been completed, Bjarne is to take a few weeks off. Here is why: from the Bournemouth Daily Echo Pedersen produced a sparkling 11-point performance against Panthers as the Dorset club picked up all three league points to throw themselves a lifeline of avoiding the drop after Belle Vue only beat Ipswich 45-44 tonight. Then the Dane, a Pirate since 2002, said: “It was my last Poole appearance for a while because my partner Lone is due to have our first baby on October 9. “I’m taking a break to look after her, but I’ll definitely be back in a Pirates race jacket for the relegation-promotion play-off if we’re in it.” Bjarne has also said he hopes to be back in 2010, as he is sure Poole will be in the EL next season (providing we get through the relegation Play-offs, of course! )

Think Bjarne having a dodgy year could've been the best thing he's done in terms of securing a team place for 2010. Can't see Matt letting him go on such a low average - it's a no-brainer he's got the potential to add a point or two onto his current average and even if he doesn't he's a solid performer on the points he does get. Plus that'll totally hack off the anti-Bjarne brigade as well, which is always a good thing in my books!

Danish racer Bjarne Pedersen has re-enlisted the help of his old coach Anders Secher as he bids to secure a Grand Prix return for 2011.
The Poole man last worked with the former Danish army officer in 2005, when he finished sixth in the World Championship – his best ever SGP campaign.
Pedersen has never been able to recapture that level of form. He was 12th in the 2006 and 2007 competitions, before losing his SGP status after finishing 11th in 2008.
The 31-year-old did not enjoy the best of fortunes last year and was dropped from the Danish team for the Speedway World Cup Race-Off after scoring an uncharacteristic five points in Event One at Vojens.
He also struggled to hit top form in the British Elite League and came in for relentless criticism from a section of the club’s fans.
But Pedersen is determined to get back to his best this season and he hopes Secher, who used to work with SGP star Kenneth Bjerre, can help him return to world speedway’s top table.
The Tarnow rider said: “I am very much looking forward to working with Anders again. He knows me better than most and has been of great importance to my personal and professional development.
“I trust that Anders can assist me in achieving optimal results in the remaining five to six years of my speedway career.”
Former Danish national youth team coach Secher is determined to strengthen Pedersen’s back-up team and ensure the rider has everything he needs to achieve his SGP goal.
He said: “One of my assignments is to develop and strengthen the existing team surrounding Bjarne, enabling him to focus on his performance on the track. This is a huge challenge and I can't wait to get started.”
