FORMER winner Andre Compton has been handed a late call-up to the Premier League Riders' Championship at his old home track Sheffield.
Compton's Workington team-mate Kevin Doolan has been ruled out due to injury, and Adrian Rymel is unavailable for the event a week on Sunday.
Comets boss Ian Thomas said: "The fact that Andre is a former Sheffield rider who goes well around Owlerton will be an added attraction."

It looks like Birmingham's Tomasz Piszcz will not be taking his place in this meeting after the Polish authorities handed him a ban from riding in Britain for the rest of the season: www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2009/09/27/piszcz-z-zakazem-startow-w-wielkiej-brytanii-do-konca-sezonu/The BSPA should now follow the example and hand Piszcz (and Burza who missed Berwick's fixture at home to Workington last evening) a season-long ban from riding on these shores. The non-appearance of Rymel should also be looked at, as he is riding in Poland today. Enough is enough.
