Sounds like it, from this article from www.bournemouthecho.co.uk
BJARNE Pedersen has admitted it feels “strange” to be part of a losing Pirates team this year after he has enjoyed almost constant success with the club for nearly a decade.
But Poole Castle Cover’s captain “has complete faith” in the Dorset outfit’s owner Matt Ford building a winning side again in 2010.
Pedersen, who has lifted 10 trophies with Pirates since joining them in 2002, has seen the defending champions inexplicably plummet to the foot of the Elite League this season.
And the Dane believes they must grab the maximum six points available from their remaining home fixtures against Belle Vue and Peterborough to give themselves a fighting chance of avoiding finishing bottom.
Pedersen, talking after Poole’s scheduled clash against Panthers was called off at 5.30pm last night because of rain, said: “It’s been strange riding as a Pirate this year because we have done so great for the whole period I’ve been here up until now.
“If everything is not going your way it’s tough, and this season has been hard because there have been a lot of pressure from a lot of people asking why we haven’t been winning.
“It’s something that happens in sport though, although it’s not very enjoyable and I’m not enjoying it, but these things go round in cycles.
“Take my Swedish team Vastervik. We won the championship in 2005, were runners-up in 2006 and 2007 and last year we were sixth or seventh.
“Now we’re second again this year, and we have to believe the same thing can happen at Poole in 2010, that we’ll be up their challenging again.
“It’s been hard losing. The press, the fans, the management, they all want us to win. And all the riders are doing their best.
“But whatever we’ve done to try and make things right, it’s gone wrong, and you can feel by the different atmosphere (around the club and inside the stadium on race nights) it has been a hard season.
“We have to put that behind us though, finish strong and build for next year when I have complete faith in Matt to build a winning team again.
“Everyone in speedway knows Matt. He has done such great things since he took over the club that I’m sure he wants to put the right team together for next season.
“I know him very well. He’s not just in the sport to make up the numbers. If he’s in it, he wants to do it properly.
“He’s a winner. You can see that by the number of trophies we’ve won.
“Poole is a fantastic club with fantastic people like Middlo (Neil Middleditch). When you have a lot of good people, they make the club good winners.”
Poole doubling-up rider Ben Wilson is sidelined for “at least a few weeks” after breaking a heel in a fall while riding for his Premier League outfit Redcar on Monday.
New Pirate Leon Madsen has been called into the Denmark side for the World Under-21 Cup final against Poland, Sweden and Czech Republic at Gorzow on September 5.
