COVENTRY Buildbase Bees are gearing up for another big local derby against table-topping Wolverhampton - with possible implications throughout the play-off race.
When the two sides met at Brandon earlier in the month the biggest crowd of the season witnessed a thrilling finale as Wolves' No.1 Freddie Lindgren sensationally overtook Chris Harris and Edward Kennett in the closing stages of Heat 15 to salvage a 45-45 draw for his side.
Bees have three Elite League fixtures to come and are seeking to move themselves clear of Peterborough, who could yet threaten their top four place if they can pull off some good results away from home.
Wolves, meanwhile, have won their last two away matches emphatically against lower-table opposition, and are now in with a real chance of finishing top, with their rivals Swindon also in action at Ipswich on Thursday.
Bees name an unchanged team with Ben Barker continuing at reserve until the end of the month when he moves into the top five, whilst Wolves have their own in-form No.7, as Ty Proctor has been one of the Elite League's best doubling-up riders, and his Premier League club Redcar do not have a clashing fixture which makes him available for duty.
Teenage ace Tai Woffinden crashed out of Olly Allen's Testimonial meeting on Sunday but rode through the pain barrier to a 12-point maximum against Swindon on Monday despite a shoulder injury.
Bees promoter Colin Pratt said: "Last time Wolverhampton came it was a thrilling match and we had a very big crowd, and this one is probably even more important.
"They've had two big away wins lately so will feel if they can win this one they could finish top, so they'll be coming with all guns blazing, but we want to make sure of our play-off place ourselves and finish third if possible."
Supporters are reminded that all under-11s are admitted free to Brandon throughout the school holidays.
BUILDBASE BEES: Chris Harris, Filip Sitera, Olly Allen, Edward Kennett, Rory Schlein, Ricky Wells, Ben Barker.
WOLVES: Fredrik Lindgren, Nicolai Klindt, Tai Woffinden, Adam Skornicki, Peter Karlsson, Chris Kerr, Ty Proctor.
