Sam Martin became the first rider to pick up the Linda De Boise Memorial Trophy, after being chosen as Rider Of The Night for Oxford's 67-23 win over Buxton. Oxford fan Linda lost a brave fight against cancer last October, and a trophy has been donated in her honor by Jim Blanchard, the Speedway artist. Sam was selected by Linda's husband Tony and sons Barry and Brian, after scoring paid 11 the hard way - by passing Buxton No. 1 Jonathon Bethell three times from the back. Tony De Boise said: "I think Linda would have agreed with our choice tonight, as she used to sponsor Sam." The trophy will continue to be awarded each week, with a different fan being chosen each week by the De Boise family to select and award the trophy. All the best Rob Also, Chris Brown emailed me a photo of Sam Martin being presented the Linda De Boise memorial trophy. At least its now respecting Linda's memory and her love for the sport. Nice to see Allen and his team attending to the finer points as well the main issues of running speedway. Thanks Lads. ;D
