The global superstar lifted the lid on the rift between his regal being and the lesser mortal Chris Harris in yesterday's Daily Mirror:
Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris in bitter speedway war
By Steve Skerry
Scott Nicholls has lifted the lid on a bitter feud with rival Chris Harris that threatens to erupt in the Millennium Stadium at tonight's British Speedway Grand Prix.
The 30-year-old blames Harris's mechanic Norrie Allen for the spectacular fall-out with his Great Britain and Coventry teammate and says it forced him to switch Elite League clubs last season.
'Bomber' posed a serious danger to Nicholls' standing as the country's top rider after relieving him of his British title and winning the British Grand Prix in 2007.
But Nicholls, who is yet to win a Grand Prix in 72 attempts, claims Harris was used as a "puppet" by Allen - a former mechanic of world champion Mark Loram - and says the rivalry got out of hand.
Nicholls, who moved to Eastbourne in 2008 before returning to Coventry on a short-term basis last month, told Mirror Sport: "It spurred me on when Chris won because I thought if an underdog like him can win a Grand Prix there's no reason why I can't. Every dog has his day.
"But the rivalry between us at Coventry got silly. We were racing against three riders in one race when we should have been riding as team-mates so it was good we were split up.
"It wasn't Chris' fault. He was just a puppet. He was easily manipulated and he got sucked into it. Norrie is known for stirring it up between riders.
"But now Bomber is big enough to stand up and make his own opinions."
Harris, 26, said: "There will always be a bit of needle between us because we're both fighting to be the British No.1. Maybe Scott was upset that I won at Cardiff and took his British title that year. Hopefully we're both man enough to stop behaving like kids.
"We're never going to be the best of friends. I know Scott and Norrie have never got on but that's nothing to do with me."
Both Brits need a good performance tonight after poor starts to the series. Nicholls is in 16th spot on 11 points, Harris 14th on 21, well behind championship leader Jason Crump (74).

How about that for arrogance?
Don't you just love the following: "It spurred me on when Chris won because I thought if an underdog like him can win a Grand Prix there's no reason why I can't. Every dog has his day."
Hey, global superstar, that's SEVENTY-THREE and counting. That's SEVENTEEN points from FIVE GPs this season; Crump scored TWENTY-FOUR last night. That's dropped by your Polish team in favour of Travis McGowan. That's embarrassing. Time to lose the arrogance, I think.
