I do have to say I was a little disappointed that Speedway Star got about five of our riders' statistics wrong. The Spar is well-known for its inaccurate statistics.

'More arse licked here than a knocking shop' I expect a mauling now. No mauling from me Harry, as I've said before if/when Stanley and Cookie get it wrong, I'll be forthright in my critisim of them.......that quite simply hasn't happened yet!! To be serious, I feel Stanley has an air of freshness about himself, he comes from a background where you always need to be aware of the current. Sadly I am the only Speedway fan in my immediate family and their most used excuse for their dislike of it is the old-fashioned, out of date bubble which surrounds it. From the programme to the PA music to the stadium to the outdated opinions of it's promoters. However, Stanley is very much a person with the button on the purse in the modern day world. Speedway needs more people like him and so after this first season I have been mightly impressed by his vision and current product. I even made an effort to see them give Cov a match in the KO Cup Semi Final at Brandon/ Sadly the same can't be said about the rest of the UK's promoters and the like elsewhere. Even more impressive is Lakeside's open-ness about their attendance figures and it appears the average crowd has nearly doubled. Magnificent to see and reassuring to the casual, neutral, roving fan like myself. And is that fantasy team line suggesting you reckon one of my teams looks the part?

That's good to hear Harry, and speaking honestly, I can only remember one real critisisim of him or his promotion last year.........and if the worst thing the bloke has done is wear flip-flops and shorts..........he can't be too bad can he? The fantasy team reference wasn't designed to mean anything really......to be honest I've not even looked at other peoples' teams yet, as they are all liable to change before the 'tapes up'.

I think it's bollocks rule anyway. It should be smart but casual. However, Stanley is pushing his luck with flip flops.

He more than pushed his luck, he got a large fine for it - and the irony of that is he was reported by the promotion who have done far more to discredit the sport in recent years than fashion terrorists could ever do.

Nope - Forsberg, Eriksson and Schramm. EL promoters, eat your heart out.

EL promoters, eat your heart out. To be fair, the EL promoters had 3.15 less points to play with, than you did.

Well, Saint Dryml is a GP rider, so that's his standard, but I can't see how young Schumi would fit in three GP riders with the riders she's already got. ;D

No, no, no Genghis, the two things are totally different, as you'll see this season. Let's put it like this, you could hire a car and drive round Silverstone.......but it wouldn't make you Ayrton Senna, would it?

Kev - I see, so you're saying some GP riders are more equal than others. Hmmmm, what does that say about charity case Andreas Jonsson, who - unlike Saint, Dryml (who qualified on merit) - had to borrow Scott Nicholls's begging bowl and suck up to BSI to get back into the GP series this year. P.S. I'm going to love it when Lukas finishes in the top 8! ;D ;D P.P.S. What on earth was the "Bye!" comment about on BSF? I see a couple people thought you were saying good riddance to Oxford, but I personally doubt that very much. What were you talking about?

The 'bye' comment was aimed soley and squarely at John Phelan. He was one of the most outspoken ones when I originally aired my concerns about Oxford in early 2006 and in fact, got quite nasty. Sadly, my worst fears have proven to be true, and just recently he's been saying much the same as I did originally........which in my book is hypocrasy of the highest order. Rather than adopt the childish retort of 'I told you so', I just wanted to make him aware that 'his' opinions on Oxford Speedway, and speedway in general don't interest me in the slightest, and if he carries out his threat to not attend another speedway meeting until the sport returns to the city......he won't be missed. I hope that clears that one up, but it still leaves the Dr/ryml v Jonsson debate. Yes, some GP riders are far more equal than others, which is the biggest reason the often mooted idea of 'one GP rider per EL team' would never work. I have to agree that Andreas has been given an olive branch in this years series, but somehow it wouldn't have been right to leave him out anyway. Let's look at the facts........he finished just one point behind the rider in 8th place and missed one GP through injury.......when he was fit, he won two GP events during the season, a feat bettered by only two riders, and you must also remember that the defending Champion didn't win any!! Most reasonable people would say he got his nomination on merit, I'd expect.
