I type this at 2.06pm and there is still no news on who this mystery new rider for The Aces is. Posts on the BSF prove people cannot read as they are hinting that Kevin Doolan will be named as our new Number 8 even though the press release states that the new '1-7 has been sent to the BSPA for clarification'. Am I right in thinking that you don't need to redeclare the whole 1-7 if signing a new number 8.
It's either piss poor communication from the BSPA to Belle Vue or piss poor communication from Belle Vue to their supporters...................................or both.

For Poole it's R/R for Holder and Paul Fry at reserve.
Ostergaard returns for the Aces.

And there is thunder and rain a couple of miles from the track as I write. It chucked it down at around 3:00pm before becoming sunny again. Has to be major doubts over this meeting going ahead.

I'm about a mile and a half away from where you are and its just the same here. What's the betting the management didn't check the weather and watered the track this afternoon when the sun was beating down. Aces: 1. Kasprzak 2. Wright 3. Hougaard 4. Ostergaard 5. Risager 6. Doolan 7. Gjedde ;D Pirates: 1. Andersen 2. Holder R/R 3. Screen 4. Davidsson 5. Pedersen 6. Fry 7. Baran

Is Gjedde seriously at reserve? Yes ;D Poole are riding under protest because of the Aces using Doolan even though the Ref has been told by the BSPA that it has been allowed. Bit of confusion as they stopped letting people in, started letting them in again and have again stopped letting people in. The texter from BV tonight is stranded outside. Really cannot see this going ahead now.

How the hell can Doolan be considered as a number eight in the EL? Wasn't he almost a heat-leader at Belle Vue last year? Strengthens the Aces no end.

How the hell can Doolan be considered as a number eight in the EL? Wasn't he almost a heat-leader at Belle Vue last year? Strengthens the Aces no end. In 2007 he was a heatleader for a period of that season but with only Simon Stead for competition it wasn't going to be hard. Apparantly Chris Morton showed Rob B (feck knows why only he got to see it) the new, all singing, all dancing, rulebook with additional SR's implemented. The gist of it is that, apparantly, Belle Vue could bring Doolan in as No.8 on his 2009 CMA. This was halved which was less than the lowest averaging rider in the 1-7 which was Billy Forsberg. I was a bit shocked myself at the signing because my initial thoughts were that his average was too high to be a No.8. Oh well....let's see what happens.

The EL and their bloody additional SR's are at total disgrace. Doolan started the season on a 10+ average. Yes he has dropped to under 9.00 but come on talk about taking the fucking p1sh.
A rider had to have a PL average of less then 8.00 to be a double upper yet here we have a number eight that holds a higher average.
Total sh1te.

Belle Vue chief David Gordon has defended the Aces' move to include Kevin Doolan as their new No.8, which was the subject of a Poole protest prior to Monday's KO Cup clash at Kirkmanshulme Lane being rained off. Gordon said: "We have an approved declaration from the BSPA that we can use Doolan in the team. "Poole have questioned this but our team is within the spirit of the rules and we strongly believe there is no reason why we couldn’t or shouldn’t use him. "We put in the declaration of the team change to the BSPA last Friday which was within the required 72 hours before the match." speedwaygp.com

Hard to be "within the spirit of the rules" - speedway's rules have no spirit. They're a shambles really. And so are Belle Vue. Obviously they're incapable of coming up with a proper signing, so the BSPA MC took pity on them and allowed them Doolan. I see this as little more than an act of charity.

Thought about this over the last couple of days and the more I do the more I think we are just as bad as Poole and Coventry. Kevin Doolan is a better rider than an EL No. 8 so if we wanted him we should have signed him permanently.
I hope the BSPA reverse the decision and force Belle Vue to get off their arses and sign someone rather than relying on 'old friends'
