A good meeting by all accounts ! Lyons proved to be a good guest, and great stuff from Neath, Bowen and Allen It was a pretty shite meeting by my account. Being 'neutral' and not being particularly bothered by the aggregate score the proceedings were fairly predictable, with only 2 or 3 interesting races. Had heard Gathercole was impressive on his previous visit - made mistakes in almost every ride and lost a lot of points over the evening. Kramer confirmed my opinion that away from home he is a tart de gating extraordinaire. Sedgemen, Walker, Brown and Herne all put effort in but just don't have the technical skills to ride Rye. I did have to chuckle at Walker's leg trailing efforts. Johnno was magnificent and his first bend in 1 ride was amazing. Deserving of a max on the night imo. Rye were probably worth a larger margin of victory as they threw away a few points on the night. Was interesting to see the tactical gates put into play for the first time with my own eyes. Rebels took gates 1 and 2 a couple of times and it certainly worked in 13 as Kramer finally beat an opponent. I say interesting, it wasn't really - it made no difference to me whatsover. I was curious to see it in action and my curiosity has now been 'satisfied'. Rico

Gate and go, Rye out front, get covered in dust...that's pretty much it. I am led to bellieve this was one of the better meetings of this season so far.....

I think that's probably my 4th trip to Rye this season and probably joint worst meeting along with the Berwick match. Just because, relative to other matches that have been crap, this one was better, it still doesn't make it good The home mob will just be happy to have got through and will have gone home happy. The neutrals among the crowd, not so. Only another few weeks before the Monarchs doubtless get a gating lesson at Rye. Rico

Did you go to the Kings Lynn meeting? Now that was actually one of the best I have seen there, I have to say ! Yes, I was there that night and the KL match at the end of last season. KL always seem capable of rattling the homesters, which is good to see. Matches I've seen there thus far this season have been v KL v Berwick Under 21 qualifier v Somerset (KO Cup) As stated, next time it will be the Monarchs. The little un loves his trips to Rye as he can run mad on the sand on bend 1/2 allowing me to watch the 'racing'. Even when Sedgeman came flying under fence last night he didn't bat an eyelid. Lol !!! ;D As there are no longer any dogs at Rye (I'm led to believe) I'm happy for him to run amock. There was a big gang of little uns playing happily on bend 2 last night toward the end, which I thought was quite sweet. He's only 3 (and a quarter) and it's one thing that I think is good about Rye is that he can do his own thing (within reason and eyeshot). He'll be asking for me to bring his bucket and spade soon.
