The Silver Ski Rockets aim to have both Linus Sundstrom and Luke Bowen back in the saddle for this weekend’s Knock-Out Cup quarter-final against Somerset.
Sundstrom aggravated an earlier back injury when in collision with Bowen at Berwick on Saturday night, and was a late withdrawal from the match at Glasgow after feeling the full effect on Sunday morning. He has been receiving treatment from his chiropractor since then and, although still in some discomfort, plans to return for the tie.
Bowen, meanwhile, suffered shoulder muscle damage in that same tangle at Shielfield Park, and had to withdraw from the Glasgow fixture after the injury stiffened up overnight. Again, as of the time of writing, he is aiming to return for the two clashes against the Rebels.
The first leg of the tie is at the Oak Tree Arena on Friday, with the return scheduled for Hoddesdon the following night (Saturday, June 13th @ 7pm). Redcar’s Ty Proctor will guest for the sidelined Robert Mear on Friday, while Birmingham’s Jason Lyons, who covered in the away fixtures at Berwick and Glasgow, will deputise for the Rye No.1 in Saturday’s deciding leg.
Rider-Replacement will remain in operation for the injured Joe Haines.
