The Ex-Gen saga on the BSF got me thinking... there will be people who watch speedway live, or on tv who hope to see serious accidents, this has been the case right from the early days of path racing at places such as Crystal Palace in the mid 1920's, and you only have to be at a motorway crash scene to see how ghoulish many people are, with tailbacks often worse on the 'non accident' side. Speedway itself has always promoted the danger aspect of the sport through advertising and the selling of 'crash' videos, dvd's etc, but recent posts have shown how all of us forum members value the riders and hope there will be no serious incidents, but what value do we put on those ideals ? if crowd numbers were to rise with new 'supporters' who showed their pleasure at nasty spills, would the increased revenue make it ok ? or would it be a step too far ?

I watch the Sky meetings on a streaming site and atleast once during every meeting someone will ask about how bad or how often there are big crashes. As for the increased revenue i dont think you can put a price on a riders safety.
I say this with all honesty, if Edinburgh was taken over by these crash chasers i would rather see the club close than be funded by people wanting to see rider injury.
