Wibbs I think Legg was a rich mug! The takeover from BSI all happened very quickly and if rumours are to be believed were completed at the 11th hour so as not to see another EL track close mid-season. It does all add up to Tan Man bankrolling the club for the remainder of the 2007 season and cherry picking from the Reading assets for his trouble. McGowan went first, and now probably Zagar. Im not sure Legg knew completely what he was getting himself into, I take it that after Reading saw out the 2007 EL season he was on his own then, and it's quite clear had Reading not had the backroom team it had, the 2008 season would have been a bigger struggle for the promotion than it was.
Not sure what you mean about stadium excuses. Smallmead was going, it would have gone if Pat had still be in charge as the lease had been cashed in (reasons still disputable) some time ago. The build of a new stadium at the present time is out of the hands of anyone interested in running speedway in the town.
You're correct though about the the real villans, BSI did major damage to the foundations of the club, to the point where I'm not even sure many of the die hard fans (and I include myself in that) really give a toss if it survives or not.

Is that just a commentator doing that video for that site, or the actual Somerset commentator?

Is that just a commentator doing that video for that site, or the actual Somerset commentator? He's the commentator for "Clean Cut Sports" who do all the Somerset videos. But here's the "anti-screaming imbecile" who does the commentating on Glasgow videos: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fP-BcyuWfLA

The build of a new stadium at the present time is out of the hands of anyone interested in running speedway in the town. One has to be a little suspicious about someone taking on a debt-ridden team, which everyone knew would be out on its ear at the end of 2008. The promises about the new stadium never seemed very viable to be honest, so why sink cash into a venture which you know is only going to be short term?

There are a lot of bad businessmen involved in speedway. They come in to boost their egos and initially love the glory of owning a speedway club, but they are just full of daft ideas, they throw a load of money at it, have no business plan and it all goes pear-shaped. Newport will be the next club to go tits up.
