Castle Cover Pirates chances of making it through to the final of the BSPA Craven Shield have taken a knock with the news that Jason Doyle will miss this Friday's Craven Shield qualifying match due to a shoulder injury. Doyle spent most of today ( Wednesday 10 Oct ) being examined at Poole Hospital, where x – rays have confirmed that he has a separated shoulder. He was then told by the specialist treating him that he runs a great risk of snapping his shoulder should he attempt to ride in this week's match at Lakeside. The 22 year old Australian crashed while riding at Stoke on Saturday but had seemingly recovered sufficiently to undertake the long journey to Prague in the Czech Republic where he was due to ride in the Lubos Tomicek Memorial individual meeting on Monday ( 8 October ) evening. After arriving in Prague, it was soon obvious that the injury was far more serious than it had been suspected, and Doyle was forced to pull out of the competition after only taking two of his scheduled five races. “ This is not the way that I would have wanted to have finished the season” said Doyle “ It feels that I am letting the side down but I have told me that I run a great risk of aggravating the injury still further should I try and race on Friday.” “ At best I would only be about 80% fit and that’s just not good enough, especially on a tight raceway such as the one at Arena.” “ I am seeing a physiotherapist tomorrow who will be able to assess just how long it will take before I am fit enough to ride again. It might be a week or a month, I will just have to wait and see.” The Poole management will now be searching for a replacement to take Doyle’s place in the Pirates line – up, but their effort will be limited to just who they can draft in as the rulebook states that any replacement can only have a Premier League average of up to six points. I notice everybody's favourite Panther has called off again tonight with a chest infection . So the Hammers fans will have to make do without the bold Lukas trying to negotiate his way round the tight little track .

The up side of that is that he appears to have cooked his goose with the Peterborough management, and he won't be back next year!!!!
