Lakeside are without four team members this Friday - Jonsson and Kasprzak are required at GP practise, Tomicek is riding in a national championship in the Czech Republic, and Kylmakorpi is injured.
Hammers are using R/R for Jonsson, Chris Louis guesting for Kapsrzak, Joe Screen guesting for Kylmakorpi and aren't yet able to announce anything regarding Lubos as "Jon Cook is awaiting confirmation that his proposed redeclaration of the 1-7 has been approved." Hammers' website then goes on to say hopefully this will become clearer in the next few days. Maybe that announcement's not quite ready then?

It does underline how British Speedway has lost any control over when and where our riders race though, when the most progressive promotion in the country can only field less than 50% of their own team!!! OK, Joonas is out injured and unfortunately that's speedway. Andreas and Krzysztof are in the GP and normally we don't ride on the Friday of a GP week - no doubt Sky's intervention (despite what Orange Tel may say : has dictated this meeting take place!! Lubos though, as much as I like and rate the guy, there's no way we can keep losing him to the Czech Federations' every whim. I think he has a big decision to make over the winter and that will come down to a straight choice between Britain and Czech. If he chooses the Czech route, and there's every chance he will, then he'll probably end up a big fish in a small pond, however if he chooses Britain he could have a very promising career ahead of him. There's no way Stan and Cookie will use Lubos next year if he continues to miss the number of meetings he's been forced to this year. I accept it's not the lads fault as he's being dictated to by his authorities, but I really think he needs to do some serious thinking fairly soon!!

So does this mean that Lakeside are now looking at serving up the third or fourth new team this season?

Lubos was the same last year. You're right - he has to choose one over the other if he's going to carry on, and really I hope he chooses Britain.

So does this mean that Lakeside are now looking at serving up the third or fourth new team this season? Pure speculation of course, but with Lubos unable to ride in our next three meetings, I wouldn't be surprised to see a former skipper back in the fold on Friday - Management Committe willing of course - and after commiting the hideous crime of wearing flip-flops to a meeting earlier in the season, I wouldn't be totally shocked to see the MC voting against Stanley!!!

Did I not read somewhere that Paul 'glass arm' Hurry had hurt himself again racing grasstrack? Somewhere on his doctor's notes it must read 'Oh no, not again!' ;D

I wouldn't be surprised to see a former skipper back in the fold on Friday Brian Karger, she says, desperately hoping.

Confirmed teams:
Lakeside:
1..R/R 2..J Screen 3..C Louis 4..L Lanham 5..A Shields 6..R Kling 7..A Messing
Wolves:
1..P Karlsson 2..D Howe 3..R/R 4..M Karlsson 5..B Janniro 6..W Lawson 7..C Kerr
Very important meeting for the two teams tonight, battling for 5th place in the table. Wolves won the first leg 52-38, so the Hammers need a good performance tonight to get all three points and take them above Wolves.
This is Messing's first meeting back at Purfleet so I don't expect him to score too many points, but Louis should more than make up for Kasprzak's absence. I'd expect the Lakeside reserves to have the measure of the Wolves pair, and they should win the meeting, but can they do enough for the bonus?

Final score 58-35. That's three more points for the Hammers.
