Swindon at full strength tonight, but the Pirates will be without Joe Screen, who apparently picked up an injury in Sweden last evening, according to the Poole website. Likely teams:
Swindon
1..L Adams 2..T McGowan 3..J Pavlic 4..S Stead 5..T Batchelor 6..K Stojanowski 7..R Fisher
Poole
1..B Pedersen 2..A Dryml 3..J Screen..R/R 4..D Davidsson 5..C Holder 6..T Piszcz 7..P Hurry
Interestingly, Tomasz Piszcz missed Birmingham's trip to the Norfolk Arena last evening, so it should be a bit of a surprise if he's in the Poole line-up tonight. Anyway, Swindon are likely to slaughter the Pirates tonight.

The absence of Screen stinks..........it was predicted he'd miss Poole's 12th meeting, and therefore remain on his 2008 average, and bugger me it happens!!! Is there any evidence anywhere that Screen actually did pick up an injury, because I can't find any anywhere..........apart from the Poole web site.

You're right kev something stunk at Swindon tonight and it wasn't the Swindon fans. Screen missing his 12th meeting to avoid his ave going up over a point and numerous engine failures and reported lack of effort from other Poole riders. Seems the only Pirates who put in a decent show at Blunsdon were the ones likely to get dropped. Rumours abound that Hans Andersen could be lining up for Poole at the end of next week, personally I hope they end up with Nicholls.

This one stinks, you have to say it. But, as it happens, it is just symptomatic of how wrong Matt Ford got his team building and how devastating the loss of Jason Doyle has been. And let's not kid ourselves that their has been some grand plan from Matt Ford to reach this point. That gives him far too much credit; makes him seem a hell of a lot cleverer than he is. He fucked up, pure and simple. Anyway, one good thing about tonight, 3+2 from the future GPer means we're not likely to see too much of snyper1010 on this thread. Tee hee Mrs Miggins, tee hee. Perhaps he needs one of Fredrik Lindgren's sausages?

I really can't see it tbh Zonkers. Hans is nigh on a 10 point rider. Unless we get two 3 point reserves in, it won't happen. I think Shovvy is right when he says we're more likely to get a 6 point rider and a 4 and a 5 (or any combination to 15 or whatever it is we have for 3 riders). I'm sure that Matt did contact Hans at some stage - especially with Bjarne threatening to walk a couple of weeks back, but is there more to it than that? Be very shocked if so tbh.

I'm really not trying to put you on the spot here Squirlie, but as one of the few Poole supporters who's opinion I value, what is your take on Joe Screen's absence on Wednesday?

I think the word is 'convenient', Kev. I don't know whether Joe is legitimately injured or not, but it does look strange, and I can see where the cynicism arises. However, I also think that you'll see a few other interesting absences around the league in weeks to come... Will they attract the same comments? I think the thing that narks me in all of this accusation and counter-accusation is the selective memory affecting some fans of certain clubs who have been known to partake of the odd bit of 'tweaking in the past and some who are even suggesting their team does it in the near future. Seems it's OK when the shoe is on the other foot. By all means have an opinion, but it should at least be consistent when it affects your own team. TBH, my interest this season can be classed as officially dead. I have no interest in whether we win the league or finish bottom. I shall enjoy the racing that is served up, but results...nope. NL will be my sole interest. Sad but true.

What makes things particularly ridiculous in the Elite League is the mid-season move to a 42 point limit. Now, with regard to Joe Screen, what will his official GSA be for team building purposes when Ford makes his changes? Will it be his pre-season team-building GSA, or will it be his correct GSA without the reduction for being British? And if it is the former, shouldn't all riders have their reduction continued throughout the season? In my mind, all riders should revert to their proper GSA as soon as the season starts.

Look we seen it all before last year Oli Allen miss a meeting at belle vue to help cov pull a fast one and hougaard missed Belle vue's last match so he kept his 4pt average and now poole and brum are doing the same this week . We all know it happens thou it don't make it right but these fans with this wet behind the ears attitude get on my tits.

Maybe Matt Ford could do the honourable thing and put a stop to all the comments by changing his team on the assumption of Screen's GSA - take Screen's current average (from eleven completed fixtures) and use it in team building. Drury could do the same.

Maybe Matt Ford could do the honourable thing You do have some 'odd takes' on things Sub, either Ford is cheating the system so honour doesn't come into it, or the situation is genuine, in which case he has every moral right to use the system to his advantage. Your suggestion implies he is being honest but should 'cut off his nose' to somehow prove his point.

take Green's current average Cant imagine many teams would want Jonathan Green however low his average was.
