There is a major plunge going on Peterborough tonight, they are almost coming into joint favouritism.

Wouldn't like to call this one TBH, Coventry's early surge up the table seems to have evaporated, and losing BB hasn't helped. Lol and then Coventry go and get a 5-0 to break the deadlock

Lol and then Coventry go and get a 5-0 to break the deadlock A 5-0 because almost 80 years on people haven't grasped the fact that to gain a point the rider has to get the bike across the line unaided.

And Zabik's off and withdrawn again, whilst Iversen may have fired up his team, but seems to have forgotten about himself. Poor showing from the Dane tonight.

And an astonishing Ht 14 where everyone was excluded.

Well I hope that one turns up at Ippo on Monday, however I do hope all the fallen riders (of which there seems to have been many tonight) are all OK. I've never seen Zabik ride.

And an eventful evening at Brandon ends up with the Bees taking two points for the win and the Panthers a point for keeping it close: COVENTRY..441..C Harris..1,3,0,3 = 72..B Barker..R/R 3..O Allen..3,0,3,3,2 = 114..E Kennett..2',3,2',0,1 = 8+25..R Schlein..1',3,3,1,0 = 8+16..R Wells..0,1,1,0 = 27..J Frampton..0,3,2,2',1,0,0 = 8+1PETERBOROUGH..391..K Bjerre..2',2,1',2,3 = 10+22..H Bager..3,1',0 = 4+13..M Korneliussen..1,2,2',1,2' = 8+24..K Zabik..0,0,W = 05..N-K Iversen..0,0,1,0 = 16..C Vissing..2,0,0,0 = 27..K Hansen..1',3,2,3,2,3,0 = 14+1Taken from: www.speedwayupdates.proboards103.comIt looks like a terrible showing from Iversen cost the Panthers very dearly indeed, but one suspects the chief talking point will be the performance of the referee and particularly his handling of Ht 14, when he managed to excluded all four riders for one thing or another.

One presumes, had Iversen performed in the manor of a run-of-the-mill reserve the Panthers could have won tonight.

[glow=red,2,300]This had it all - apart from a Panthers win![/glow] Coventry 44 Panthers 39 Elite League A:It was supposed to be the night that Panthers announced their arrival in the Elite League title picture, but it turned out to be their most frustrating few hours of the season so far. Controversy, acrimony and mastery were all seen in equal measure on a stormy night at Brandon which featured thrills, spills and a possible peace of Panther's history. Referee Jim Lawrence decreed that the penultimate heat ended in a 0-0 stalemate after several minutes and several attempts to stage a race that featured three crashes and an exclusion. It is thought to be the first time that has happened to Panthers during their 39 year history. Reserve revelation Kenneth Hansen was one of the men involved in the heat 14 chaos at the end of a stunning paid fifteen point showing, not a bad way to celebrate his signing on loan for the rest of the season. Despite Hansen's heroics, Panthers left the Midlands empty handed and that was down to rather a too large helping of ineptitude. It explained why ameeting ending 5-1 from number one Kenneth Bjerre and partner Mads Korneliussen only salvaged a single point under the sport's new scoring system, rather than sealed the four they would have earned for the comprehensive victory they should have claimed. No one was more guilty than skipper Niels Kristian Iversen who managed only one point during arguably his worst ever Panthers performance. The return would have been doubled but for the actions of an all too eager member of the Bees track staff and who rushed on to the track to pick up the Danes machine after a seventh heat tumble. Iversen was eventually able to push his bike across the finish line but the point was lost because he had recieved a outside assistance. That Would still have represented a poor showing from one of the city's big hitters. The list of ifs, buts and maybes surrounding this defeat was longer than one of Peter Crouch's limbs. Had Lawrence ruled on their side in either of those incidents, had team boss Trevor Swales sent out Hansen or Korneliussen out as a tactical ride for a 10th heat in which they grabbed a 5-1, had Iversen not performed so poorly and had Karol Zabik not been forced to withdraw through injury, all were factors that may have made a difference. Zabik was taken to hospital with suspected shoulder damage when painfully exiting the 7th heat following an engine seizure and is rated as a major doubt for the club's trip to Ipswich on Bank Holiday Monday. Swales accepted part of the blame for this defeat and was quick to admit it could turn out to be a costly reverse. He said: " I made a **** up or with not sending out either Mads or Kenneth pay out on a tactical ride and I hold my hands up for that. I had actually planned to give Bjerre a tactical ride but it wasn't possible in the end. " there is no doubt that this has to go down as two or three points dropped rather than one gained. It is a big missed opportunity to get an away victory and is one we could live to regret later in the season." It began just as brilliantly as it ended with the Henning Bager and Bjerre streaking to an opening race maximum. Panthers were also in the driving seat in the next installment until charging Coventry reserve Jordan Frampton dived past returning Claus Vissing to ensure that the honors ended even. The visitors' lead was wiped out in the next when Korneliussen and Zabik left the traps so slowly that one wondered whether they were or riding through toffee. The sides remained deadlocked through a couple of shared heats. Hansen equalled the quickest time of the season at Brandon when winning heat four, but that statistic was soon rendered irrelevant as Edward Kennett went a tenth of second quicker when winning the next. TheBees hit the front in the sixth contest with a 5-0 return after Vissing retired at the tapes with ignition failure and Iversen tumbled out. Two further heat advantages for TheBees followed as what had been a tight meeting threatened to become one sided. But thanks to Hansen that didn't happen. He was sent out for three successive heats and helped to cut Panthers arrears from 13 points to seven. Any hope of a miraculous comeback disappeared in the 13th race when Bjerre and Iversen saw a 4-2 advantage turn into a 4-2 defeat. There were still plenty more drama at ahead in a penultimate heat that will go down in a folklore. The action started to unfold when Kennett crashed out of the initial staging after being forced wide and losing control won't. Vissing was then dismissed from the rerun after being at deemed guilty of causing a tumble that saw impressive Coventry reserve Jordan Frampton bite the dust at the end of the opening lap. That meant a match race between Frampton and Hansen to decide the points, but neither of those two men could complete either. Hansen was attempting to overtake down the inside going into the third turn of the second lap when Frampton went down. In the process he made contact with the Panthers man who straightened up and could not avoid taking a tumble himself. Referee Lawrence decided both riders had fallen independently and ruled that no points should be awarded - something that did not go down too well with the either Hansen or his team boss. There was still time for a no other nasty smash in the final heat when Schlein lost control on the third bend and Kennett could do nothing to avoid his teammate who subsequently suffered rib damage. Kennett was fit enough to take its place in the rerun dominated by Bjerre and Korneliussen but there 5-1 finish was only good enough for a point. And on current form there are likely to be a fair few more away meetings that promise plenty but deliver very little for Panthers. source Mark Plummer Peterborough ET. colpanthers.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=away&action=display&thread=1119&page=2
