A double exclusion for the home team's two riders, Eric Andersson and Pontus Aspgren, in heat 15 at Avesta last night, as both came out wearing the blue helmet. When it was pointed out, Andersson went back to change, when in fact it was Aspgren who had donned the wrong colour, and both riders ended up being excluded. So with a 43-52 victory to the away team, Valsarna, they look hot favourites for the gold medal.

I am one of few maybe the only one who thinks it was correct decision. A referee MUST always know who each rider is and he must be able to make correct decision regarding exclusions etc... Some say oh but he can look at the numbers. i mean wtf numbers? But the ref maybe didn't exactly saw who had which number when a crash happened? and then when the riders eventually (hopefully) stands up the mechanics might have already gone back to the pits with the helmets so what to do then?

I agree with you - and it wouldn't have made a difference to the outcome of the meeting anyway. Call me cynical, but I don't think Masarna really want to win the league - it's more financially viable for them in the Allsvenskan.

Were they actually excluded for wearing the wrong colors, or were they faffing around trying to change colors and missed the 2 minute deadline? I genuinely don't know the rules around this so, would a rider be excluded from a race in the UK for wearing the color? I can understand what you say about the ref needing to know who is who, but I am old enough to remember 80's racing in the UK when somewhere between 20 and 40% of the time the helmet covers flew off mid race, and the ref's didn't seem to get decisions wrong any more than now....

Were they actually excluded for wearing the wrong colors, or were they faffing around trying to change colors and missed the 2 minute deadline? The scorecard says "X" rather than "M" so I guess it wasn't a two minute exclusion, although I don't know for certain. I was hoping one of our resident experts would know. Solkatterna have opted to play the first leg of their semi finals at home, against Ornarna. Valsarna have opted to go to Gubbangen to take on Hammarby.

Have to say I was impressed last night by how the meeting went on despite it raining from start to finish. Echoes the thougths I've always had about meetings being postponed way to easily in general.
