These were posted on the BSF today, anyone got any idea what it may be about??:
Apparently there is an "Extraordinary" meeting scheduled for this coming Tuesday. The Edward Kennett arbitration hearing has been deferred to another date, that won't help Bob Dugards temper!
Anyone got any ideas what that is about?
In my days of being on various committees and boards you only called "extraordinary" meetings when an unexpected problem or critical matter cropped up. Particularly if it meant rescheduling a long standing item, in this case the arbitration hearing, important to both Eastbourne and Coventry. ---------------------

Maybe it's to discuss the new SKY deal?
--------------------
Maybe it is to make sense of the rule book (no..that is an impossibility) -----------------
I agree with icicle. The Rule Book seems in tatters and the season has only just begun; it has to be tidied up.
--------------------
Fingers crossed this has nothing to do with Bob Dugards alledged commets to some season ticket holders on Saturday about them "getting refunds in a couple of weeks".

Brought a smile to my face as that word (predictable) is something a good friend of mine has always said was your middle name.

More rumours appearing on BSF that the meeting is due to a breakdown in the relationship between the BSPA and Go Speed, and that the meeting has been called to discuss a new TV deal.
I also get the impression from a local press release on the BSF thread that there may also be a hint of dummy spitting from down Sussex way on the cards.

I think I'd be indulging in a little "dummy spitting" if I was watching circa £7,000 flush down the drain every week. That's about the only thing Bobby D has to complain about. It's not as if his team isn't doing well - unbeaten at home and putting in commendable performances away from Arlington, in spite of all the pre-season talk of the Eagles floundering. And fined for speaking out of turn. I wonder if Postlethwaite was fined when he had his rant about the television deal ahead of his disappearing act at Reading? I suspect not.

No Sube, I think the BSPA saved up the fines and passed them onto Wellie instead. Fined for not attending a general BPSA meeting because he had to collect a new rider fromthe airport to ensure Reading didn't field an understrengh team and get fined again!! etc, etc.
Crowds at the beginning of the season generally have been lower in recent years at most clubs, but pick up as the weather improves & the season kicks in & becomes more interesting. 3 weeks in just seems a tad early to be heading for that panic button to me. With no stadium rent to pay & what doesn't look like an expensive team what other cost cutting options does he have other than banging his EL A meetings only drum again.
You know what, I was dreading March this year with no club to support, and I do miss my weekly fix of speedway but that's probably more out of habit than anything else.
As these early weeks of the season progress and further shit is making it's way to the fan both here and in Sweden/Poland, I'm starting to wonder if it's not such a bad thing having no club to support.
We had a few months at Reading to get our heads around our fate, unlike Oxford and I fear maybe one of two more clubs this season who's fans will turn on one week on race night to find the gates locked and a big CLOSED notice pinned to them. I think the PL will come throught he season relatively unscathed, but the signs from the EL don't look encouraging.

But the GP stadust was all just an illusion. It'll be interesting to see how the GPs fare this season and in the years to come, especially if the riders decide they actually want a living wage out of it.
