The draw for each GP will now be made at 1pm on the practice day (Friday). This bizarre move is designed to give the media something to write about , but it means writing all the names into the programme (or now more likely, a pre-printed sheet) if you attend a GP. Let's face it, if the media need to make a song and dance about Crump drawing #7, and Pedersen getting #5, the resulting reports probably won't be worth reading. The die-hard fans who cough up their hard earned money to be there are yet again treated with contempt.

What an absolute joke, probably means no early betting markets, and with new sponsorship vital, alienating that potential market could be a huge mistake. Still this is speedway after all

Alternatively, they could decide to hastily print an insert for the programme overnight, now wouldn't that look unprofessional? I guess apart from people who like a highly priced (I can't imagine GP programmes are cheap) souvenir of their GP outings, few will buy an official programme.

I don't encourage them .

I fail to see your logic there Hatcham.......the race-goers want to see a race-card and if the programme can't provide that, they'll provide their own.

They're about £8 at Cardiff . I don't encourage them . Jesus, that's criminal. As I said in another thread last year, a young fellow dropped off a Newcastle United programme for me to have a look at. It was 64-pages, full colour and on glossy paper, with only a couple of adverts. It cost £3. Now, I can understand the difference between that and the programme you get for attending Berwick, Coventry and so on. But the crowd at Cardiff isn't that much smaller than your average Newcastle United crowd, so the same economies of scale would apply to both.

My belief Kev, is that the draw WILL be done in advance to enable the production of programmes, but not released until the day before to stop race-goers from producing their own, or using the speedway star.

I suppose it's possible that BSI would believe speedway followers are stupid enough to buy that. But I think it's more likely they'll just produce a hastily slapped together racesheet and insert it into the programme. But, of course, you'll not be allowed to buy any such insert on its own, you'll have to buy the whole thing.

No Hatcham, IMG are intending to broadcast the draw live on the Friday to any television companies that will take it.

The circus is in town again i see. I have the 2008 cardiff programme upstairs and it is shite to say the least. ads for all crap a full page profile of every rider including what googles he uses. To be honest i dont care if he goes blindfolded aslong as i see good racing for what i paid.

Not much hope of that at Cardiff, is there? Not unless watching riders shooting off left, right and centre after catching one of the various ruts floats your boat.

Well hopefully they will learn that a track needs time to set and they will give it that.

Well it you use the 'continental format', you can screw the organisers over anyway. You just need to write in the names once, and then you get the heat format as well.
