And once again the Ekstraliga races on a Friday and both meetings will be televised at the usual address. The start times are:
Torun versus Zielona Gora - 5:00pm BST Czestochowa versus Leszno - 7:00pm BST
Torun shouldn't have too many problems brushing aside the challenge of Zielona Gora, but the Czestochowa-Leszno meeting looks like going down to the wire, although the Bulls will be missing their injured youngster Pawlicki.

Well, I'm sure none of us is surprised to see Sullivan not suffering an ill effects from his illness of yesterday. It truly is shameful the way that British speedway just tolerates nonsense.

True sub, but you have to ask yourself who is it that has to tolerate the nonsense ? because it certainly isn't peterborough, i'm sure bratters and most of the panthers fans (particularly zonkers) would take woffinden over old man sullivan any time.

Really is some first class action over in Torun - Ht 5's battle between Iversen and Kosciecha was glorious.

And I suspect that 5-1 in Ht 11 is the death blow to the Falubaz hopes of going for gold.

And that is that, I'm afraid, as the Czestochowa versus Leszno meeting has fallen victim to the weather. No re-staging date as of yet.
Edit:
The re-staging date will be next Thursday (25-09-08).

And today (21-09-08) sees Liga I hosting meetings, so we'll be keeping an eye on a few riders of interest to our members involved in the meetings, starting with Daugavils hosting Rawicz, which means the Laguta brothers riding for the home side, but no one of interest in the struggling visitors:
9..G Laguta..3,3,3,2' = 11+1 16..A Laguta..0,3,3,3 = 9

Next up we're off to Bydgoszcz, where a depleted Ostrow are the visitors - it looks like Ostrow have given up for the season, with only David Ruud of their foreign contingent at the meeting, but we'll be keeping an eye on Ispwich's Robert Miskowiak, while Lakeside's Andreas Jonsson rides for Polonia, as usual:

And it looks as if the scheduled re-staging of the Czestochowa versus Leszno meeting has also had to be postponed due to the condition of the track in Czestochowa. This causes chaos for fixture planners, since the next available date is Sunday and that day was supposed to see the first leg of the next stage of the play-offs.

And the postponement looks to have caused a war of words to erupt between Leszno's chairman Jozef Dworakowski and his opposite number at Czestochowa Marian Maslanka (imagine, Tai Woffinden's male employer in Poland is called Marian, isn't that, well, a bit of a "girlie" name?). Dworakowski has cried "foul" claiming that Czestochowa made no effort to get the meeting on since they were going to be without Messrs Pedersen, Hancock and Richardson: www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2008/09/25/marian-maslanka-dzialacze-unii-lamia-dzentelmenska-umowe/And he's going to lodge a protest letter with the Ekstraliga authorities tomorrow, demanding that Leszno be awarded a "walkover" victory: www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2008/09/25/unia-chce-walkowera/But Czestochowa's "maid Marian" has hit back with his own version of events, which seems to be that the track was in poor condition on Wednesday and with a bad weather forecast for Thursday they advised their foreign trio not to bother, however, the weather wasn't so bad today so they were prepared to charter aircraft to get Messrs Pedersen, Hancock and Richardson to the track, but the referee decided the track was unacceptable: www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2008/09/25/marian-maslanka-dzialacze-unii-lamia-dzentelmenska-umowe/
