News from www.theargus.co.uk Watt set to remain an Eagle Davey Watt today revealed he is almost certain to ride for Eastbourne Eagles next year. The Australian star admits he is 99 per cent sure his 2007 campaign is over as he recovers from a recent crash in Poland. But he is just as confident he will still be at Arlington next season, despite likely interest from around the Elite League given his form this year. Watt said: "I don't want to leave and I can't see that the promotion here want me to leave so I'd say it's just a formality that I stay. I certainly hope so. I'm happy here and there is no reason I would not stay." ;D Great news, I really hope we do keep him as he is a great team rider. He has been fantastic this season, its such a shame it had to end in injury.

Nicki Pedersen, Davey Watt, Morten Risager and Simon Gustafsson could form the basis of a very good and entertaining side. With the addition of three other carefully chosen riders, Eagles could have a very good 2008!!
Personally, I'm not convinced Lewis Bridger and Edward Kennett would be good signings. Team spirit, as Coventry have displayed this year, goes a long way towards success, and I'm still to be convinced that the two Brits can offer anything conducive to that........ just my opinion though, what do others think?

And that was Coventry's greatest strength and something they're to be commended on. To me, Coventry were a good side in a distinctly mediocre league, but the whole was certainly greater than the sum of its parts.

That's fantastic news for Eastbourne fans. I've always had a soft spot for Davey. But does anyone know why he didn't go through the qualifiers for the GPs when he could have been a strong contender? Are there criteria for entry, or did he just choose not to?

Are there criteria for entry, or did he just choose not to? He would have to race in the Australian Championship to have the chance to race in the GP qualifiers, and he chooses not to. I can't quite remember why, but I think it was something to do with the set up he has in Australia not being right to race in there. Therefore, he would have to get wild card place, which is unikely. Also, he has said he is very happy just doing league racing anyway. Kev I think one of either Kennett or Bridger would be a good signing but not both that wouldn't do anything or the team. I would also like to see Cameron Wooward back next season, as he has quietly gone about his season and has improved massively (when he has managed to stay on his bike that is )

It would appear that Kennett is indeed looking to return to Eastbourne next season-at least that's what he said when asked about it today.

From Eagles website:
"Eagles admit they would love to have Kennett back if possible.
But team building throughout the league is on hold until tracks know exactly how many points they have to play with.
The accent is likely to be on youth as Eagles build a side around Watt, who is a near certain starter in 2008."
Seems to suggest Nicki's not the main player in their plans any more. Lots of rumours surrounding the world champion, understandably. Notably that he could go back to Wolves or give the UK a miss altogether. Personally I hope neither of those turn out to be true.

Strange I'm sure that it was a quote from the rider, stating that he would like to stay at Eastbourne, not an official announcement from Eastbourne Eagles , has someone already been talking to riders for next season then

Acutally I think Davey Watt will decide what happens with Davey Watt. And he has already stated he wishes to return to Eastbourne next season.

www.elite-eagles.com/2007/latest/bridger-insists-relationships-are-strong.htmlLewis Bridger is in the papers claiming his relationship with his team-mates is "great." That may be the case, but one can't help but wondering if his goal for achieving a 7 point average next year is a tad optimistic. Also interesting to read about how he feels about Eddie Kennett. See what you think - the final paragraph. He makes a point of Ed being four years older then says "he's a good kid," and the slight contradiction in the rest of the sentence. Or is that just me...

Better to be a bit over ambitious than under, imo. I don't think it can be easy for Lewis being the big hope for a few years. He was only 15 or so when lots were saying he is a World Champ of the future.I did though while mooching about in the pits at Brokstedt overhear him saying that the night before he was getting some advice from Dave Kennett. So it didn't seem like there was a problem there, like he says
