Barry Thomas rode for Hackney between 1970 and 1989. Now, genghis said Ronnie Genz rode for 14 seasons, and that was a club record, so I assume Thommo beat it with his 20. Has there been anyone who's ridden for a team for longer since?

Not this country, but Andrzej Huszcza joined the Zielona Gora club in 1974 and rode for them until the end of the 2005 season, which is a little bit more than thirty years. After leaving Zielona Gora following the 2005 season, the remarkable Huszcza had a couple of seasons with Poznan before retiring. He was 50-years-old when he retired ahead of the 2008 season.
Edit:
And the Barry Thomas statistic is misleading, since he spent a couple of seasons with Crayford in the early 1980s and was only Hackney's No 8.

Dave Mullet rode 18 seasons for Reading, although his first apperances were as a no.8.
Reading had a good record of club loyal servants. During my years watching Reading the following riders celebrated testimonials at Smallmead.
Bernie Leigh Jan Andersson Jem Doncaster Phil Morris Dave Mullet x 2 Tony Olsson Dave Steen

Again, not British, but what about Henrik Gustafsson at Indianerna Kumla? I believe he joined Indianerna in 1986 and rode for the club until the end of the 2008 season. That's twenty-three seasons, by my reckoning. But I think the Poles take some beating in the club loyalty stakes; "steady" Edward Jancarz had a little over twenty years with Gorzow (1965-1986), Wieslaw Jagus has been with Torun since he started in 1992 so that's seventeen seasons, Tomasz Gollob was with Bydgoszcz for a lot of years before moving to Tarnow ahead of the 2004 season and even Krzystzof Kasprzak, at just 24-years-of-age, is heading for his ninth season with Leszno in 2009.

After last night, I feel that the place to learn about speedway issues is right here on your forum, so I'll ask the question....
Do you know how long Jerzy Szczakiel raced for Opole?
I have only ever seen him being referred to as an Opole rider, but I dunno whether he had a long career with Opole after his amazing victory in 1973, or whether he moved on from Opole, or even if he moved away from the sport while still relatively young....

Jerzy Szczakiel spent his whole career with Opole. I believe he started out in 1967 with Opole and retired from riding in 1980 (a back injury caused his retirement), whereafter he became manager of the Opole team.
