This was posted on the BSF by Colin Cook's son:
Hi All,
The rider in question is actually my old man and wanted to share any memories from his racing days with anyone else out there - he is still ALIVE! so dont panic...
I am actually planning a surprise party for him next year and would like to get in touch with any people that knew him and get a good crowd together...
not sure if anyone can help me on another topic but i am trying to put together a DVD of my dads best race meetings....
now I was 8/9 when he quit and from memory i am thinking
Exeter @ Mildenhall...... the meeting where he had that race with dave jackson
Peterborough 4 team tournament....he had a good meeting there
..... there are a couple of exeter home meetings where he scored maximums....
and the meeting where he won the league riders pairs championship with rob hollingworth i believe
i need to try and obtain copies of his best meetings on video and transfer them onto DVD for him.....
can anyone help or have suggest from race meetings?
Cheers

I never met Colin Cook, but I met his wife and - presumably - this young fellow at a meeting at Newcastle in the mid-to-late-1980s. At that time the pits at Newcastle were overlooked by the back straight grandstand and if you got there early enough you could get a seat directly overlooking the pits. And that's where I used to sit. Mrs Cook and the children were sitting just along from me and we got talking - a very pleasant woman. And Colin Cook was a good little rider.

You could point the fellow in the direction of Mike Hunter at Edinburgh speedway. He handles all of Edinburgh's PR and also does the club's DVDs and videos. Unfortunately, Mr Hunter is heading out of the country for a couple of weeks, but he's jolly helpful and might be able to help out. He can be contacted at the following: mike.hunter@edinburghspeedway.com Or via the "Friends of Edinburgh Speedway" website: www.foes.info/index.html
