World champion Nicki Pedersen has agreed to ride in fellow Dane Bjarne Pedersen's testimonial at Poole on March 18th, 2009. Nicki P will be riding for a Newcastle select side against what looks increasingly like being a Poole Select side. Nicki P will be joined in the Newcastle team by Kenneth Bjerre (Nicki P, BP and Bjerre all started their British careers with the Diamonds), while Antonio Lindback, accompanied by his manager Tony Rickardsson, will be in the Poole line-up. From speedwayworld.tv:
BJARNE Pedersen has added the names of Hans Andersen and Chris Holder to his Testimonial meeting at Poole next month. The Danish star will celebrate his decade in British speedway with a challenge match between teams representing his only two clubs, Poole - who he captained to the Elite League title last year - and Newcastle, for whom he started out in the Premier League. Andersen, Emil Sajfutdinov, Nicki Pedersen and Antonio Lindback are all riders involved who will not be racing regularly in the UK this year, and Lindback and Andersen are both former Poole men. Andersen's British career started with the Pirates in 2001, and Pedersen hopes supporters will finally put behind them the controversy of the 2004 World Cup Final at Wimborne Road when Andersen defeated Scott Nicholls in the last race - resulting in GB just missing out on the trophy at the expense of Sweden. Pedersen said: "I'm sure if Matt Ford were to sign Hans and bring him back here for a year, everyone who has been booing him would turn around and cheer him because he’s riding for Poole again. "English fans like to see the best speedway riders in the world and Hans is definitely one of them. "So I’d love it if all Pirates supporters give Hans a great reception on my testimonial night because he’s riding as a favour for me."

I managed to go to this meeting last night. It wasn't a great meeting, most heats were follow the leader, with very little action. Nicki and Hans had the best race of the night, swapping places for the first lap and a half until Nicki had had enough and shot off into the distance Nicki was a class above the rest and a joy to watch last night. Even heard some Primates admit that, albeit between gritted teeth Best moment of the night was when Rosco did 4 laps, pretending to be Bjarne. He somehow managed to fit into Bjarne's 2008 racesuit, so maybe Bjarne needs to join Screeny on the diet. Hope Bjarne had a good night, even though he wasn't great he would have got some money out of it, with the programmes costing £6

I managed to go to this meeting last night. It always amazes me how you manage find the time to get to meetings considering your hectic university lifestyle. ;D
