From www.speedwayworld.tvLAKESIDE has been announced as the venue for the 2009 British Under-21 Final. The Purfleet circuit successfully staged the event last year and will once again host some of the best rising stars in the sport on Friday April 24. Last year's four finalists - winner Tai Woffinden, Ben Barker, Adam Roynon and Lewis Bridger - are all eligible to compete once again. Hammers co-promoter Jon Cook said: "Last year’s staging of the U-21 Final at our Raceway proved to be popular with not only the fans but also the riders who took part. "It was a long day with afternoon practice for the riders prior to the evening staging of the event but we ran it very professionally and proved that we are very capable of staging such prestigious meetings. “This year there could well be a Hammers asset for the home fans to support as our own Jerran Hart, who we have loaned out to Premier League side Scunthorpe this coming season, could be amongst the 16 riders fighting for the honour of being crowned the British U-21 Champion for 2009." Lakeside have also announced plans to run an Elite League fixture on the evening before the British Grand Prix. They will race against another club who do not include a GP rider within their ranks, and hope to attract interest from supporters making their way to Cardiff from the continent.
