You can rule out Lakeside for 2009 too.
I asked Jon Cook the question last night at the fans' forum, and he replied that the majority of riders who fit this league want to ride for 'stand alone' teams only as they will get more meetings, so The Hammers won't be involved.

Updated and on the 14th January, there is an AGM where teams interested in the Academy League will be given full details of the set-up and expected to confirm their intentions.

We all have a role to play....Schumi. Can't expect everyone else to do the work.
To be fair, news about this league has been as rare as Lord Lucan and all threads on BSF are full of hot air and arguments.

Looks like Redcar may have pulled out of the NL.

The consortium running the Redcar Speedway Club based at the South Tees Motorsport Park at South Bank, Middlesbrough have re-assessed their position with regard to entering a Redcar Cubs team in the new professional third tier of British Speedway - the National League. As such they will not enter a team for the 2009 campaign but do not count out such an operation in future seasons. The club will continue to have a commitment to youth development through impending training schools at the circuit; junior second halves after the Redcar Bears Premier League fixtures plus the possibility of mini challenge matches at home and away on an occasional basis. Explained club boss Brian Havelock: 'We have decided to focus all our attention on a successful campaign for the Redcar Bears in the Premier League. We have assembled a competitive team but know in the current economic climate that we must not over-stretch our budget. We will review the circumstances in 2010.' The new season at the Motorpark commences at 7.30pm on Thursday March 26th with a challenge match against keen North-East rivals the Newcastle Diamonds. www.redcarspeedway.co.uk

From what I've heard, Mildenhall has been sold, it was just a case of 'dotting the is', and Kings Lynn have a team almost completed (as do Bournemouth).
Edit: KL are announcing their full line-up for the NL on 28/01/09. They also said the Captain is a former ex-Stars favourite.

Well it's gone bloody quiet despite the meeting. We have teams announcing their 7's without an idea of the rules. However, teams must instruct the authorities of their intention to run by Saturday 31st January.

RYE HOUSE COBRAS JAMIE Courtney is set to make a return to the sport after injury - having been named in Rye House's National League line-up.
The team will be again be captained by Daniel Halsey, and both riders have ambitions to compete at the next level.
Courtney said: "I am very keen to get myself a team place in the Premier League, and this will put me in the shop window."

Kings Lynn are nicknamed the 'Barracudas'.

And I understand that young Jake Knight is the son of former England international, Richard Knight.

Aye, he is. Been doing second halves at Kings Lynn the last year, so is a familiar face around the track.
