According to our insider among the Heathen Tigers (paulco), who's at a speedway function tonight, it's official that the former British champion has been released by the Coventry Bees.

Oh dear. Can't help but feel this points limit reduction should have come with a bigger British reduction, but there you go. Hope Scott finds a place, but where? Wolves, maybe? They are supposed to be going for a newer, younger team after all.

Yes, but have you SEEN the Holsted team? Nicki, Neils AND Damian? Doesn't mean I want to see the Brits pushed out of Britain though.

10% is a bit too much. And of course I mean Balinski.

And of course I mean Balinski. Selv om der var en valget imellem afmønstring Balinski eller en sig legged blind Bolivian I'd påtegne den sig hvis moder tunge er Spansk!

Johnno has reverted back to the BSPA after being released by Coventry: www.coventrymotorspeedway.com/news.php?extend.282"In addition to Nicholls, mid-season signing Steve Johnston has also been told that he will not figure in next season's plans, and his registration has reverted to the BSPA. Once again, this was not a decision which was taken lightly and we thank Steve for his massive contribution to last season's success."

More gutted about it looking likely Johnno won't get fixed up with a UK team than the pre-Sunday Nicholls saga.
At least Nicholls would have had his foregin leagues to fall back on. Poor old Johnno never in the right place at the right time when it comes to team building.
Any chance BV could fit him in?

Johnno brings a lot to any team imo. A good man to have in the pits, is a team player and is of course a 'bit of a lad'. Speedway needs these characters imo. He is in the Autumn of his career but I still feel he can do a job. fog

chris harris...7.78 rory schlein...7.74 ollyy allen....5.44 billy janniro...5.17 adam roynan...3.11
leaving 9.61 for the remaing two riders
would like to see
martin smolinkski...5.34 andew moore..4.00 or craig watson 3.00

Harris is the key - his career took off last year and it will be interesting to see how he makes the transition to a number one rider . The Poo boy has reached his level and is as good as he is going to be . Same applies to Allen and Janniro is past it , while Roynon is no where near ready for the Elite league and will struggle . Coventry would have been better giving Nicholls what he wanted and releasing the poo boy , which would have gave them a more potent spearhead .

Coventry would have been better giving Nicholls what he wanted and releasing the poo boy , which would have gave them a more potent spearhead . totally agree regarding scott and rory, but disagree with the rest. as i see 2008, there will be a handful at most of 'superstars', anderson, crump, adams, jonsson and nicholls. all GP riders, so not so many for the likes of bomber et al to beat. janniro averaged 7+ this season including bonus points, remember he scored 74 in el and 35 in other competitions. on many occasions letting his team mate through on the last bend. allen should improve next year, i guess to about 6.2ish. harris and rory should both obtain 9+ in the diluted league next year, roynan only has to score 3 a match to maintain his assessed average, and another injury free clear season for smolinski could see him reach 6pts. as for the others, andrew moore could add 1.3-1.5 to his average in a team that helps his progression, and craig watson would also move from 3 to at least 4 given an injury free season. one thing noticeable at coventry is team spirit, if peter oakes is still involved next year then the spirit will be there to help nurture the newer team members.

Poor old Johnno never in the right place at the right time when it comes to team building. Johnno still has a place in Sweden at Masarna, and maybe could have a place in Poland after a late showing for Torun last season, but you're right in that things are looking ominous in Britain. The thing is, he's a good enough, dedicated rider, but you get the feeling he'll be one of the last in the queue for a place here. Hope we're both wrong.
