From PlanetF1, and headline news this morning.
Mark Webber has been seriously injured after he collided with a car while riding his bike on the Tasmanian Peninsula.
Webber was competing in his own charity event, the Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge, a 250-kilometre event consisting of mountain bike riding, kayaking and trekking, when he collided head-on with a Nissan X-trail near Port Arthur.
He has suspected multiple fractures to his arms and legs and has been rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Sergeant Jon Ford, of Tasmania Police, said: "At 12.40pm we received reports of a collision between a bicycle and a motor vehicle on the Fortescue Bay Road on the Tasman Peninsula.
"The collision was initially attended by paramedics attached to the event.
"He was airlifted from the scene by helicopter and taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital where he is now being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
"He suffered a broken leg and other injuries and is reported to be in a stable condition."
It was the fourth day of the five-day challenge which was being contested on open public roads.
"Mark's been involved in a minor accident, he's fine," Webber Challenge media manager Nancy Cook told Autosport.
"He's being treated, he's really disappointed that he's not going to be able to continue but he's well and being looked after."
The Aussie's injuries are likley to keep him out of action for at least the next two months.
