BEES TAKE 13-POINT LEAD COVENTRY Buildbase Bees launched their Knockout Cup defence in fine style with an impressive 53-40 win over Poole at Brandon. There was some spectacular racing in an all-round team effort, with Steve Johnston impressing on his home debut - whilst the Pirates relied heavily on Jason Crump, who scored a superb maximum. Scores below BUILDBASE BEES: Scott Nicholls 12, Rory Schlein 10+1, Chris Harris 9+1, Steve Johnston 6+3, Billy Janniro 6+1, Olly Allen 5, Martin Smolinski 5. POOLE: Jason Crump 18, Bjarne Pedersen 9, Craig Boyce 5, Steve Boxall 4, Edward Kennett 3+1, Jason Doyle 1, Piotr Swist 0.
What a good meeting that was. Looks like Steve Johnston will be a good asset, the whole team looked more solid than in recent months. Will it be enough to take to Poole and win through?
Well done the Bees ;D

Looks like Steve Johnston will be a good asset, But for how long jacques? I'd be surprised if Johno lines up for the Bees next year (unless there is a radical change in the way teams are allowed to assemble. Morten Risager is a different kettle of fish though - young, talented and until he was dropped, Coventry through and through! I still can't belive the Bees made this change.

Morten Risager is a different kettle of fish though - young, talented and until he was dropped, Coventry through and through! And only really worthwhile in the reserve berth. I suspect that in ten years time the likes of the flapperjack 21st century heathen will be saying: "What you have to remember is that he's only 29-years-old".

It's my understanding that Johno is only with us till the end of the season, so "asset" was proably the wrong term. God only knows what the team will look like next season
