It looks as if Swindon have reached a preliminary agreement with the much sought after Russian sensation Emil Sajfutdinov, although it remains uncertain whether he'll actually appear in the Elite League next season: www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2008/11/05/sajfutdinow-w-swindon-nie-z-dzika-karta/It all seems to hinge on the decision regarding nominations for the Grand Prix, since the Russian's assessed average would sudden become 8.00 rather than the much more attractive 4.00. And Matt Ford was so sure it was the Pirates or nothing for Sajfutdinov.

Reckon there could be a squad system coming into the EL for next year. Why else would Swindle be intersted in signing Sajfutdinov when he already has some commitments on Thursdays in Russia other than to rub Matt Ford's nose in it. ;D

With Sajfutdinov confirmed for the SGP I guess that means he's off the agenda at Swindon and, presumably, everywhere wlse in the UK - hard to see anyone taking a punt on the youngster on an 8.00 assessed average. Naturally, changes could be made to the assessed averages at the BSPA AGM, but I doubt even the Orange Dictator could swing a revision to Sajfutdinov's assessed average.

Even on an 8.00 average, I'd be tempted to give him his chance assuming he was committed to Britain, as he's probably the hottest property since the legendary Peter Collins.
