Former England international Andrew Silver (son of Rye House promoter Len) is considering a speedway comeback after a 16 year absence from the sport at the ripe old age of 42! Len Silver is said to be keeping keeping a watchful eye on his son, with the possibility of making him part of the Rockets' squad for the 2009. recently stating "At present we do not know about the team average requirement for next season, nor what average Andrew will be assessed at after his long lay-off."
"But I can certainly envisage a situation where Andrew could fit in to the team if he feels that he could be competitive." I just dont get it!!

At a guess FP, he'd come cheap! In all honesty though 16 years out of the saddle is way to long to be thinking of making a comeback. Can't see him even being a decent reserve in the PL.

Now that Neil Collins has retired I think that would make him the oldest rider currently in British Speedway. Why force out up and coming youngsters like Bowen, Halsey or Mear just for a trip down nostalgia street! I have to say he was a rather odd looking site at Rye House last weekend - looked like a Bank Manager wearing tortoise shelled glasses!

You never said Silver returning might force out Bowen!!! In that case, it's a great idea, good luck to him.
