Announced on Reading's website that the Racers are looking to start their season with a couple of challenge matches. First one on Mon 10th March, opponents not sorted yet for this, and will then travel to Rye on Sat 15th March. Racers will then face IOW in a home & away challenge on Sat 22nd March on the Island with the return fixture being the followoing evening. Both of these meetings will be sponsored by Chris Shears' Chalfont Coaches who will be laying on free coaches for fans to travel to the meetings. Nice one!

I'd say I'll see you there Mildy, but Rye is a shit track and not one where I'd say you won't see good or half decent speedway.
Our record there is mince as well, don't expect a thriller.

It's alright, believe me. I'm there every time Mildenhall are there, are most of the time big meetings are on, that catch my eye. The Fish n Chips are worth the travelling anyway

I've gotta agree, the F&C at Rye House aren't anything to write home about. The pub next door however, is another story.

Oh yes - forgotten the name of the pub - but it's a good'un

The pub next door however, is another story. Didn't have a fish supper cause i hate fish , but if you mean the pub at the entrance to the car park , then yes it is a good pub . But alas the last time i was there some eejit decided to park a van right on the corner and our supporters coach couldn't get out causing a standstill of all traffic for about half an hour till the van owner was tracked down .

First meetings of season now fully confirmed:-
10/3 - Home - Rye House (TVT - when Hertfordshire became part of Thames Valley I don't know!) 15/3 - Away - Rye (2nd leg of TVT) 17/3 - Home - Somerset (Ch) 21/3 - Away - Somerset (Ch) 22/3 - Away - IOW (Chalfont Coaches Trophy) 23/3 - Home - IOW (Chalfont Coaches Trophy)
Busy start for the Racers then with 6 meetings in just over 2 weeks, should get the boys nice & race fit for the season proper and hopefully will also give them ample opportunity to sort out any mechanical gremlins.
Going to be a busy Easter again!!

Seems due to changes in Wightlink Ferries pricing structure both clubs will now have to charge a £4 supplement for any fan wishing to take up Chalfont Coaches transport offer to both the Reading/IOW Easter meetings.
Still a bargain IMO.
