Taken from a post on the BSF by barncooseboy who's requested it be circulated amongst the various speedway forums:-
THE TIME HAS COME.
I spoke to both Ashley Taylor and Graham Smith tonight and an article will be appearing in the local Cornish press in the next week or so requesting that local speedway fans add their support to the application, NCDC have been warned that the Exeter application brought 1200 letters of support.
They would both welcome any support that this forum can provide, the actual application can be viewed on the North Cornwall District Council website under planning register and is under applications for last week APPLICATION NUMBER IS 2008/01894
E mail comments can be sent to :- development.control@ncdc.gov.uk
or via letter to Development Control, NCDC, 3 Barn Lane, Bodmin, PL31 1LZ
Please ensure that there is an address for you so that a reply can be sent to you and eventually the decision of the planning officer/committee...
If you are adding your support from a distant location it would be useful if you could include a reference to bringing support to the local economy, staying locally etc.
Those of you who dont know Bodmin is is a very pleasant market town and can be reached from the North via the M5 and then the A30 which is dual carraigeway from Exeter down except for a short distance immediately to the north of Bodmin. The track location itself is adjacent to the A38 road from Plymouth at Bodmin Rugby Club BUT it is the point where the A38 and A30 merge into one. The town has an ASDA, Morrisons, several chippies, a number of pubs that do food, an Indian (Pretty good one at that)
Keep an eye open on the way down for the Dingles Steam Village sign at Lifton just before you cross the border where you will be made very welcome by Poole supporter Roger Alford, Eastbourne supporter Kyra a daughter of a long time sponsor at Eastbourne (South Coast Vans) and if you are very unlucky me. have a snacck, a thrash on the dodgems and noahs Ark and become a recycled teenager.
The track design is as far as I know being done by Brendon who was the designer of the old Trelawny track and will be very similar so should provide lots of lines, the rugby club bars etc are already in place as is a golf driving range, Lanhydrock house (NT) is close and should keep lots of wives/mothers amused for an afternoon. The Eden ptoject is close by and back up the A38 towards Plymouth is Bodmin Parkway station which is on the main line and there is a bus service from there that I think passes the track on its way into Bodmin. there certainly used to be a late train service back up to London at about 2245 or so, not sure if there still is. Trago Mills for those who have heard of it is not very far away to provide all its discoun t shopping and picnic grounds.
Can I thank everybody who writes in support on behalf of Ashley and Graham and I certainly hope they will succeed where I failed.
GOOD LUCK LADS
