1..Edinburgh..29..15..0..0..6..2..6..1515-1116..50 2..Somerset..30..15..0..0..6..0..9..1517-1223..48 3..King's Lynn..30..14..1..0..4..4..7..1624-1111..45 4..Workington..30..12..2..1..5..0..10..1435.5-1300.5..41 5..Rye House..29..14..0..0..4..0..11..1441-1198..40
Rye could still take that fourth spot for the play-offs for promotion, but are we going to see teams "throwing" matches to avoid it?

The news from the Scotwaste Arena tonight is that Edinburgh have chosen to face the Somerset Rebels in the play-offs. Somerset will visit the heathen capital next Friday.

They get a choice? I must read the Premier League section on the BSF more often.

Surely Edinburgh should have the choice of King's Lynn or Rye House, not second-placed Somerset.

Kill off the strongest opposition in a one legged home tie... Bet Somerset are seething if that's true!! Edit! I see it's a 2 leg affair!!

I suspect they'll kill off Somerset in the two-legged affair as well. Look at the recent league meetings between the sides:
Somerset 48 : 44 Edinburgh Edinburgh 66 : 24 Somerset

Look at the recent league meetings between the sides: Somerset 48 : 44 Edinburgh Edinburgh 66 : 24 Somerset Well, I don't think it's right. In the past in the Young Shield, the top finishing team had the choice of teams 5-8 and so on. Edinburgh should have first choice of the 3rd and 4th teams, then Somerset should get whoever is left. It shouldn't be 1st vs 2nd in the semi-final, that should be the final.

Very clever as they avoid the two tricker tricks in Rye House and Kings Lynn.
I think they are hoping Lynn get one over Rye.

Shouldnt be allowed to have 1st v 2nd. 1st should have to pick from 3 + 4 just like in the JYS 5-8 have to choose from 9-12.

Final four:
1..Edinburgh..29..15..0..0..6..2..6..1515-1116..50 2..Somerset..30..15..0..0..6..0..9..1517-1223..48 3..Kings Lynn..30..14..1..0..4..4..7..1624-1111..45 4..Rye House..30..15..0..0..4..0..11..1500-1232..42
Edinburgh still have their fixture at Glasgow to go, but it doesn't affect the table.
Dates for the semi-finals of the play-offs are:
1.10.08..Kings Lynn v Rye House 3.10.08..Edinburgh v Somerset 4.10.08..Rye House v Kings Lynn TBA..Somerset v Edinburgh (presumably the 10th)
