It looks very much like Andreas Jonsson is considering following the example of Rune Holta in becoming a non-blood Pole, if the following (taken from Sky Sports) is to be believed:
Top speedway rider Andreas Jonsson wants to throw his lot in with his adopted country Poland after falling out with the Swedish national federation.
The 28-year-old Swede no longer wants to represent his homeland after falling out with Svemo, the Swedish motorcycling federation.
The root of their dispute is a 1,000-krona (104-euro) fine Jonsson received for pulling out of last month's Swedish championships following concerns about the rain-soaked track.
He now represents Poland, where speedway is highly popular and he is a star riding for the Polonia Bydgoszcz team.
Had enough "I've have enough of Sweden. I want to be a Pole," Jonsson told Poland's PAP news agency.
"I've already filled in the application for Polish citizenship. I have my base in Bydgoszcz, and also have a home there."
The Grand Prix rider added: "I'm fed up with Svemo. I won't be representing them any more and I won't be going to the finals of individual championships next year."

He should have thought this through before going to the press......if he'd opted for British nationality he could have become our outright #1 and his GP place would be as safe as houses for the forseeable future. ;D Seriously, even if he becomes an Eskimo I'd love to see him back at the side of the lake next year............hey, think about it.....how much publicity would an Eskimo generate..........could be the way to go AJ.

I think the word Eskimo means 'one who eats raw meat' and they prefer the term inuit

And just as I suspected there was no truth in it. Here's what he had to say: SVT Sport: Do you want to be a Pole? - Absolutely not. There are some who come out with inaccurate information. I have not had any idea at all to do so, responds Jonsson, who has applied for Polish passports, but only for business reasons. After a conflict with SVEMO, Jonsson has chosen not to compete in the national squad. "Next year I won't compete in the World Cup or SM-finals," he told the TT yesterday. Which is exactly as we reported here yesterday: subedei.proboards89.com/index.cgi?board=sweden&action=display&thread=2285&page=1

Erm.. so he's applied for a Polish passport, but doesn't want to be a Pole? Given that both countries are in the EU, what difference would changing his passport make unless he actually wants to compete for the Polish national team? If the issue is riding on a Polish licence, he can still do that even with a Swedish passport.

This is what his website says:
Me and my team members are tired of all phone calls which we've been answering constantly. Everyone's asking what I'm planning and whether I'm going to be "the second Holta". It's true I'm trying to get Polish citizenship but that's been happening for quite a bit of time, for at least two months. But now it's been linked with that frustrating situation from the Swedish Championships final and the storm has started! I have no intention at all to renounce my Swedish citizenship and my efforts to get a Polish passport have nothing to do with speedway or representing my country. For a few years I've been spending lots of my time in Poland and I lead a normal daily life here. Not only my speedway life. I run a company here as well. Every year I'm more and more tied to this country by my business. Unfortunately, being Swedish I encounter many restrictions when it comes to my business activities in Poland. Some things are forbidden, others are restricted for foreigners here. For example investments. I spend in Poland more time and I'm more involved in some Polish issues than some of Polish emigrants who live in England, Sweden or Germany. So all my efforts to get Polish citizenship are caused strictly by business reasons. I run a company in Poland and I want to lead my business activities in Poland in a more normal and easier way. That's all.

Still doesn't add up. As EU citizens, Swedes have the same rights as Poles, and if they don't, then the Poles are breaking EU law.

What I think he saying is that whilst he's going for Polish citizenship, it's nothing to do with his speedway. He'll still ride as a Swede, just not in the WC or SM finals.
