www.speedwayworld.tv/en/news/a9363?SID=f8670c3e46f74f3ac573c3fb552fc04aSWINDON could be set to re-call Sebastian Alden ahead of the Elite League play-offs. Alden crashed out of the Robins' home draw with Belle Vue in early July and was expected to be ruled out for the season, and the Blunsdon club then signed Croatian talent Jurica Pavlic. Alden is now back in action and the man under pressure is Travis McGowan, who failed to beat an opponent in Monday's 52-41 defeat at Peterborough - the only Elite League match to beat the weather. Swindon are now resigned to an away tie in the play-offs and manager Alun Rossiter has hinted that Alden could be in the frame. He said: "Travis is really struggling and I feel sorry for the lad. He must be devastated. "It’s putting a lot of pressure on the other riders and we will have to take a long, hard look at it. "I’ve got a meeting with Terry Russell in Rugby tomorrow and we will see what happens from there."I like Travis, I really do, but I can't help but feel this has been coming for some time. He looked like he could have been a decent rider all the time he had Hancock to guide him, but since that partnership split, and his accident, he hasn't really been the same.

Taken from Swindon Robins site:
SEBASTIEN ALDEN has been recalled to the Swindon team as a direct replacement for Travis McGowan.
Alden will return to the Robins' line up for Thursday's home match against Wolverhampton.
Alun Rossiter has explained the decision:
'It was clear for everyone to see that Travis has been struggling for form lately and as a club we felt this could no longer continue. It was extremely hard informing Travis of our decision, but he understood that a change had to be made immediately.
Travis still remains part of our plans for the future and he will spend the Winter in Australia re-discovering his form and confidence. He still has time on his side and i'm sure he will re-capture his touch in the coming months. Travis's recent scores weren't doing himself or the club any good and he appreciates we had to take action'
Seb Alden has been riding well in Sweden after recovering from his heel injury. We are hoping he can do a solid job for us as we look towards the play offs.'

Well, it looked like Mildenhall had signed Travis, but now it seems that move has now been blocked. Post from Jonathan Chapman on the BSF:
Mildenhall Promoter, Keith Chapman, is dismayed and disappointed at the news that the BSPA have rejected a move for Travis McGowan to come into the Mildenhall Fen Tigers team, ‘Not in a million years did I dream their would be a problem, the club is running 10 points under the points limit and haven’t won a league meeting all season. There is a rule in place which stops rider movement after 31st August, this rule was originally put there to stop the strong clubs poaching riders from the weaker clubs that were finishing their season early, but Management Committee have the right to give express permission over the rule if they feel it is in the best interests of the sport. The reason why they have blocked the move has therefore puzzled me because firstly the move was not pre emptied by us or Travis as he was sacked by Swindon, secondly on previous occasions, like September 12th 2007 for example, the BSPA gave Birmingham express permission for Phil Morris to come into their team because of injury problems even though he only left Newport the week before!’.

Maybe not, because according to the Swindon website:
ALUN Rossiter has confirmed that Swindon intend to use Cory Gathercole and Richard Sweetman to fill the Robins' reserve berth for Monday's play off semi-final.
With Sebastien Alden and Manuel Hauzinger sidelined with injury, Swindon are expected to field club number eight Cory Gathercole along with Richard Sweetman.
Rossiter explains the decision:
'At this late stage in the season it would be virtually impossible to try and sign a new rider. Both Cory and Richard are a huge part of Swindon's future and I have faith that then can do a decent job for us.
There seems little point tracking an unknown rider when both Cory and Richard have performed well for us when called upon in the past. They are Swindon riders, they deserve a chance and i think they will do well wherever we end up riding.'

I would guess that Rosco made that statement before the BSPA blocked Trav's move to Mouldy. I know his form has been poor this season, but he's still got bigger potential to perform in the EL Gathercole or Sweetman have.

TRAVIS McGowan has been recalled to the Swindon team ahead of Monday's Play Off Semi Final.
McGowan comes into the Swindon team as a replacement for Sebastien Alden who sustained a fractured collar bone in Monday's meeting against Coventry.
Swindon will still use Cory Gathercole on Monday, but now McGowan will join his compatriot at reserve.
Robins' manager Alun Rossiter believes the recall offers McGowan an opportunity to impress:
'Travis hasn't ridden at reserve in 2008, so Monday's meeting provides a great chance for him to show everybody what a influential rider he really can be.
We were going to use Richard Sweetman on Monday, but the chance to bring back Travis is one that couldn't be missed. He brings some experience to reserve and should perform well alongside Cory'

Well the Louis' are taking some serious stick over Jarek's failure to be in 2 places at one time, but this surely takes the biscuit. How to look a pratt in one easy lesson by Rosco and the Grand Orange one

To be fair is it any different to Wolves dropping & recalling Howe or P'boro dropping then recalling Zabik?
Trav could also have said no to going back.

Had Travis signed for a PL club? Apparently not. Seemed Chappers Jnr jumped the gun a tad when announcing that.
