Before the Coventry/Ipswich thread disappeared (probably for the best given the reasons why) there was a tiny snippet that must have got lost amongst the rest, because only one person picked up on it - and that was the rumour that Rune Holta was going to be a Hammer.
Now, with the injuries lately having taken their toll on the club, they will no doubt be looking for replacements, but their only real option is to replace like-for-like, as to redeclare would hit the Essex club hard. I think (although I'm not expert on averages) that the highest available is for Adam Shields (7.78?), and presumably Holta would come in on a 7?
But apparently Holta won't ride here? Is it just rumour, or have the Hammers pulled off another master-stroke?

Schumi, I believe Holta's average would be 8.00.

that was the rumour that Rune Holta was going to be a Hammer. There have been so many rumours about Holta, that I'll believe it when I see it. It's certainly the case that teams often enquire whether he'd be interested in riding for, but I know he dislikes the Arena track after crashing there years ago, and I don't think he's too enamoured about most of the other British tracks.

www.lakesidehammers.comUnnamed as yet, but the Hammers have agreed a contract with a new rider to come in against Peterborough on the 18th September.

When did Holta ride at Arena Essex? In some world championship round a few years back. The last World Championship round we staged was in 1995 and was a World U-21 qualifying round. Paul Hurry won it from Crump and Sullivan. Others there included Ulamek, Lanham, Howe, Clouting, Wilk, Groen, Verbrugge, etc. Don't think he was in this meeting and I was sure he had never ridden at Arena.
